When LSU first hired Aranda, I did some reading about him. In one interview long before he was at LSU he said recruiting was his least favorite part of coaching.
He did not say he didn't like it, just that it was least favorite.

It is overblown. It’s not that Aranda can’t or won’t recruit. If that were the case, he’d be in the NFL right now. He can definitely sell what he does and his proven track record to kids, especially on the defensive side.
However, I do think it’s evident that Dave isn’t the ace closer head coach that guys like Saban, Kirby and Jimbo have proven to be. However, a smart head coach is going to surround himself with people who make their organizations better rather than buddies and yes men. I think we all know Dave’s a pretty smart guy, so I wouldn’t be too worried if he got the job until proven otherwise.
