Ole Miss is trying to play a game of blackmail to make Kiffin sign an extension when he is already under contract.

But they are ready to take the guy that has built their current program and put him on janitorial staff while he is still fulfilling his contract.

Bold move Cotton

Who's to say the committee wouldn't look the same way at a team with an interim coach?

The argument against them doing that is Steve Fisher winning the NC (basketball) as Michigan interim in 1989.

Would not be surprised to see him put on paid leave and not Coach the Egg Bowl?

They are playing this as stupidly as you could possibly play it.

Well losing your starting QB who was phenomenal, 100% reduces the teams offensive abilities and a direct impact to the game. I would not put this on par with the HC leaving as losing your starting QB.

Yes you will have a different play caller for one side of the ball, but you have the same players and the same playbook. It is just a matter of the difference in plays that are called and you cannot say one way or the other that would negatively change the outcome to justify a dramatic drop in rankings.

Exactly, all this he has signed, he's visiting. He hasn't talked to anyone. I'm not sure his family visiting Baton Rouge of G'ville isn't a breach.

For Lane to seriously talk to anyone he must notify his employer of this.

Oh, tough guy!

In what world would OM be looking to fire Kiffin?

There doesn't appear to be a path for Ole Miss to fire Kiffin "for cause" before the College Football Playoff.

In what scenario would this be considered right now?

Ole Miss tried to call his bluff and it may have fricked them in the arse because he was actually willing to leave. That’s what I think happened. Now they’re trying to get the money together. But is it too late?

And this is what our dumbass fans want at LSU. Kiffin needs to stay the frick away from LSU
