Freeman lost to 8-5 Northern Illinois

Oh noz. Guess what? Every single coach in college football history has or will lose to an 8-5 Northern Illinois if they coach long enough. Saban lost to UAB in Tiger Stadium his 1st year here. Lost to ULM at home his year at Bama. Not sure what Les’s worst loss was here, but it took a miracle to come back and beat Troy. Who Ed O actually did lose to. Before winning the Fiesta Bowl and feuding the greatest team in CFB history a couple short years later.

Hell, Saban lost 5 games—and would have been 6 were it not for the Bluegrass Miracle—in his THIRD year at LSU. Just 1 season after winning the SEC and Sugar Bowl. You show me a coach who hasn’t lost to a Southern Illinois and I’ll show you a coach who hasn’t been coaching very long.

Which is actually a positive for Freeman. He’s early enough in his career to learn from those things. That’s one thing that’s most exciting about him—he’s only going to get better.

Meh. You can only play the games on your schedule. You still have to do it. Do y’all not remember all the turds Notre Dame trotted out on the sidelines after Holtz before Kelly got there and started winning consistently? Charlie Weis had a nice season or 2, but ultimately sucked. It’s hard to win big time there. It’s one of the 2 main reasons Kelly left to come here.

If any LSU coach loses to N. Illinois, they’d be gone faster that BK.

Except history—some of which I’ve pointed out—proves you wrong. And we have better athletes than Notre Dame. We should be able to put athlete the Northern Illinois. That’s a more forgivable sin at Notre Dame than it would be here.

Baton Rouge is trashy along with the rest of the state. You don’t realize it until you leave

He is a lot of hype like Kelly. Decent coach but not elite

I would be fine with all three of those. And if it’s Drink, the guy is goofy, but he can coach, and I trust he would hire the right staff. You would probably keep Baker, Peoples and Olsen.

Would like to move on from his OC though.

That would be the silver lining

So Drink is, for all intents and purposes, your first choice. Got it.

Kiffin being an acceptable hire when Freeman has accomplished more in less time is crazy to me. Kiffin hasn’t made the playoffs, has finished the season unranked twice and in the top 10 once at Ole Miss (only 1 season finished in the top 25 in his other 7 seasons as a head coach before Ole Miss), has a worse win percentage while at Ole Miss, and is a career 4-4 in bowls. He managed to go 5-7 in year 2 at FAU as well.

Maybe it’s my ND bias, but I don’t see how you can argue Kiffin is a great choice and Freeman is a “trash hire” unless the only criteria is “coached in the SEC.”

With that said, LSU needs to stay away from Freeman.

Because if ND is ever going to win a national title in my lifetime he will be the coach to do it.

Freudian slip? I think you may have accidentally exposed your r…eason for so adamantly not wanting him.
It's people like yourself that always point these things out. It really says more about how YOU think than him. It's YOUR racism showing, and Freud would agree.

We’d arguably be in a better spot present day if we hired him over BK back in 21.
