re: Who is Plan B at QB?

If this follows the coaching search results and Sorsby is our guy, then Sorsby it is. Start the bidding. Verge will make sure Kiffin gets his guy.

Who is Plan B at QB?

Posted by Grimetime on 1/2/26 at 8:55 pm
If Sorsby goes to TT, who do you think we target? Chambliss likely going pro and Austin Simmons likely to Mizzou, so the OM pipeline is dry. Looks like Leavitt to UK.

Lagway, Raiola?

Next Year's QB Prediction-The Athletic

Posted by Grimetime on 12/25/25 at 11:00 am
LSU: Austin Simmons, R-Jr. (Ole Miss)

"Lane Kiffin invested two years getting Simmons ready to be his starting quarterback at Ole Miss, but the Florida native lost his job to Trinidad Chambliss after going down with an early-season injury. Simmons would also help bring some of the other Rebels with him to Baton Rouge."
He needs to stop doing interviews. Not helping himself or LSU.
Simply reeled in the highest rated recruit in program history in Leonard Fournette and helped him become an All-American. Followed that up with Derrius Guice. He hasn't forgotten how to coach or recruit. He had a terrible OL to work with this year. Give the man some props.

Kiffin-Frank Wilson Connection

Posted by Grimetime on 11/29/25 at 9:20 pm
Frank was on Lane's staff at Tennessee in 2009. I have no doubt Lane trusts Frank to handle signing day on Wednesday assuming Lane commits to LSU and also comes to an agreement with OM to coach the team in the CFP.

That said, something needs to be made public before then for the benefit of LSU's verbal commitments.

A Bit of Irony

If Lane does indeed don the purple and gold next season, way back when, his first QB as a head coach (with the Raiders) was none other than LSU's Jamarcus Russell. The word is he wanted no part of JR, but Al Davis got his way and drafted him 1st overall. We all know the rest of the story.

Emery Jones, Jr. Debut

Made his NFL debut tonight at LG for the Ravens against the Bengals. Congrats to a great LSU Tiger! I had a feeling he might end up at Guard in the NFL.

Kiffin or the field?

Who do you put your money on as of right now?
Make Heupel say no. He’s making $9M a year. Give him enough of a raise to make it worth his while. That’s really the only sensible option if Lane falls through.

The General Consensus?

So are we saying unless Lane has a sudden attack of conscience and decides to stay at OM because he wants to see this thing through for his players, he is ours as of next Sunday?

I predict Jedd Fisch to UF

Posted by Grimetime on 11/14/25 at 9:02 pm
Lots of smoke and he's a UF alum.
Josh Pate and Paul Finebaum think he is in play for the various big jobs that are open. Pair him with Blake Baker and both sides of the ball would be covered.

Could LSU be interested? Coached under Saban. Successful other places

The case for Heupel

Posted by Grimetime on 11/9/25 at 8:31 am
1. Has made the CFP.
2. Has won big games against top 10 teams.
3. Knows how to run an offense.
4. Handled the Nico business really well. No one is above the team.
5. Tennessee fans may be getting restless and he could want a change.

Herb Vincent for AD!

Bring him home and let him be a part of the coaching search.

Heupel or Drink?

Posted by Grimetime on 10/31/25 at 9:22 pm
Assuming we don't get Lane or Freeman, I would easily take Heupel over Drink. Heupel has some big wins and has made the playoffs. Drink has neither.
