Strong is at USF, Kiffin is at FAU and Mr. Ed is a shitty recruiter.

Don't forget Butch Davis at FIU.

This is the right move for Kiffin IMO.
He needs to prove some maturity and that he can build a program again as a HC. He needs to stay there for at least 3-4 years and get that team competitive.
If he can do that he may get a major job again.

Precisely.

I see what you're saying, but I dunno if anyone is hiring the FAU coach to a major job even if he had previous experience at a place like UT or USC.

added, thanks
I think Jim at Florida might be the worst of the bunch in the state... Crazy..

So does this mean Shipley is back to FAU?

I kind of dream that Tenn, will have to go to him, hat in hand and beg him to come back next year...
Not because it would be great for Tenn but it would put a nice bow on the entire Tenn debacle of the past decade.

To turn down the LSU job for 2 million a year says something about the Saban center of influence.
No. It says something about Lane's desire to be a HC. He wants to be the HC at a major program again and he has nothing left to prove as Bama or LSU OC. However, to land a big time job, he still has plenty to prove as a HC. He won't be at FAU long if he has any success.

Another school who made a better hire than LSU at HC
Posted on 12/12/16 at 11:26 am to OneMoreTime
Thought there would be a better chance of him going to Fresno to be the HC if he wanted to FC anywhere
Guess we gotta get Helfrich now. Won't be bad either.

Great news. Did not want. I never saw the upside in hiring Kiffin. Best case scenario he comes in, improves the offense slightly, we win 9 games, and then he leaves. He was never going to come in and magically turn the offense into a juggernaut capable of competing for a championship. I don't see any OC doing that for that matter. We just don't have the dudes right now.

Finebaum is blasting him

Money's not the issue - he's got plenty of that from the Raiders, Tenn, USC, and Bama the last 3 years. Kiffin wants to be a HC again, and he realizes he'll have to start over at a small school.
He's young and wants to be a HC. Time will tell if he can be successful, but he was never coming to LSU as OC - I said that from the beginning. It would've been a lateral move with no upside for him, other than some extra money.

WOW! LK will be forgotten in a couple of years. FAU isn't even a stepping stone, not even a pebble. If he won every game, no one would notice.

Dude, were you living under a rock for the past decade? ANYONE who trusted Alleva to do anything right was delusional.
Hire the worst athletic director in Duke's history (DUKE!!!). Have him fire the winningest coach in LSU history. Replace him with one of the losingest coaches in Ole Miss history. Profit?
That is not how this works. That is not how any of this works. We are headed for a downturn that will make the 90's look like the golden age of Tiger Football.

As my dad would say (paraphrased), he's going to shite and fall in it.
There aren't any 4 or 5 stars at FAU and not that many 3's.
