Yes. He was with Leach and Co. A defensive HC who can shore up that end while running that offense may be the key to what we need. Best of both worlds.

So getting an FSU legacy by giving his dad a job in the athletic department is noteworthy recruiting?

I've played under the Tony Franklin offense and have been coached by him several times at camp.
The thing about Franklin's offense is that even though it can put a lot of points up, its not that hard to defend. When you go against the teams that have the talent to play man on your receivers and shut them down and a d-line that controls the line of scrimmage than your QB is running for his life all game.
When you put a guy in there like Morgan Newton that trips over himself when he does a 3 step drop its hard to rely on your quarterback to make plays with his feet. You need someone like Cam Newton, Johnny Football, the QB from MTSU, or other mobile QB's to make plays with his feet or otherwise a strong offensive line to give your QB time in the pocket. Otherwise he's toast.

To me, I think it's more impressive that he got Casher, Eddie Goldman, EJ Levenberry, Ronald Darby, and Justin Shanks.
The dude is the real deal. Not to mention, as soon as he went on staff that's when Jenkins and Woerner turned all freaking world. Jenkins wasn't even wanted by UF and UGA or Bama. Werner was a little regarded 3 star DE from the Northeast who only played 2 years of organized football before college. Eliot has a nose for talent, and that's more important than almost anything else in CFB IMO.

Tony's offense has been successful at Kentucky before, we just lacked the defense to churn some more wins out of it. It can be successful again in this situation (defensive focus, but an offense that maximizes potential) IMO. It's done well enough at Tech to get them bowl eligible.
As far as Morgan Newton, the reality is no one would've been able to predict how bad he regressed at UK. Not given how well rated he was coming out of high school. That's a bad example to use and even sillier now that he's not even on the roster.

either way, you look at we should be able to bring in some nice talent now that he is on staff. Kentucky's recruiting should be the best it's ever been under stoops.

I like this hire. Now get a good OC, and UK will be starting to pull itself out of the mire they have been in. Slow, but steady progress....

A Pro offense is easy to stop if you have a defense with great enough talent to play man on your receivers and a dline that controls the line of scrimmage.
When you put a guy like Jarrett lee in there it's hard to rely on your QB to make plays with his arm. You need someone like Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning, or other great QBs to make plays or otherwise a strong offensive line to run the ball. Otherwise, he's toast.

Lawrence Dawsey and Odell Haggins. Eliot should do well for UK, nonetheless.
