They have kept Davis for the OL position and Cook for what appears to be the DB coach. Just guess but I would think that CK talked to and consulted with the DC and OC before making these choices. So I think there is a decent chance they are already have the positioned filled but haven't announced because them coaches are still working. Does this sound possible?

With this theory, we are saying Denbrock for OC and Golding for DC? Or they would have announced both by now.

Not really on the OC because Coach K has obviously determined that BD can coach em up in the style/scheme he wants and the OC will be running that scheme for Kelly.
Not the DC either actually since we are not sure Cooks has an on field job yet. (hasn't been announced yet anyway)
Didn't know I was gonna go slight contrarian when I started writing this.

If Pete Golding had actually been in contact with LSU, Saban would have relieved him from his duties yesterday.

Well there are 40 plus bowl games. So there are more than 80 teams still playing.

That’s college.

There are also NFL assistants.

So yeah.

Why would you think he would consult with the OC and DC?

Do you think Saban consults with Bill O’Brien or Pete Golding on his hires?

Cooks position is not known right now, but he’s not being paid $500,000 to be an analyst! He’ll be an on field coach, probably either cb or s coach.

We have no oc or dc lol. We aren’t keeping a coach secret. He hired the dB coach because he can make him an an assistant if the dc has someone else. Davis is a good coach for any oc.

Imo it was a reaction to losing Raymond. He had to keep the best coach still available and he needed a backup db coach in case he can’t find someone.

Well they will be working together. The DB coach works under the DC. They need have some of the same philosophies. Same thing goes for the OC and the OL coach.

I am sure he does. While Saban is a hardass and is hard on assistants he is also one of the smartest coaches to ever live. Sure is going to ask his coordinators what they know about potential hires. Have they worked together, do they like them. I am sure he may even ask who they would suggest. Any good CEO will ask his managers for suggestions. But that doesn't mean the head honcho doesn't make the final call.

Monken OC, Schumann DC & Hankton WR off UGA staff. Terry Joseph CB off UT staff. BK is at LSU for the re$ource$ to make these type of moves, he'll flex his new SEC hiring power year 1.

yeah I think people are over playing this angle.

Coordinators come and go while retaining assts all the time. They are Kelly's employees, not the OC and DC's

You would think so. Most coaches do this they don't tend to hire assistants without input from the coordinators. Not unless you're someone like Saban but nobody is like Saban. You don't really force hires on elite coaches so it usually ends up with yes guys, young guys, etc. On offensive side I don't think it matters because BK will control it. Highly unlikely he's getting a big name on OC side without some type of agreement to let them control it. DC side though, you don't want to hire assistants without DC input as BK has little to no control here. This is probably why Cooks doesn't have an official role yet as they could probably slide him to analyst if they need to. I don't think they have an OC/DC hired waiting to be announced there's no benefit waiting right now especially for recruiting.

I don't think Elko or Golding are on the table even if they're top targets. Neither seems realistic for LSU right now. Both would be very nice though. Maybe they need to look at someone like Belk who they could probably easily poach.
