Jordy says he talked to a Baylor staff member in the last 24 hours

He was told LSU hasn’t contacted Aranda yet.

Well that really sucks if true.

Not saying it's wrong, but this means nothing. Why would a Baylor staff member know who Aranda and his agent have talked to?
I'm sorry, but Jordy is getting annoying. He is desperate for clicks. Used to love the guy and still like his basketball opinions, but this coaching search he has really showed his arse.

It seems like the only reason we wouldn't reach out at all by this point is if we have a guy locked in

I would hope that isn't true, because if we haven't even contacted him, then they really are putting all their eggs in the basket for Riley. That would also mean that they're pursuing someone else other than Aranda as second and third option, which I'm not a fan of to be honest.

Yeah. Agents are there for that. Plausible deniability

IMO There is probably little reason for them
To know if Aranda had been contacted yet or not. It would likely serve as a distraction to the coaches/team while they are fighting for a New Years 6 bowl. It may be true but I don’t think it necessarily is. The one thing of note is that Jordy may have a connection with Austin Thomas who is the GM out there, that is probably the only guy who would know.

We are getting Riley and he’s our top choice. Why reach out to a guy lower on your list if you have or think you have your No. 1 locked up.

So we’re talking to Mark Stoops but not Aranda?
Posted on 11/17/21 at 9:42 am to 1999
Gruss on 24/7 already said it wouldn't be Aranda.

Meatball would be the staff member

Ok, so what?
Let’s say LSU has contacted Aranda. He’s not gonna be going around telling people “guess what, LSU wants me to be their next coach. I just talked to them”.

Exactly this

Look….. Aranda has done well this season. No questioning that.
He’s a great defensive mind. No question about that.
When you’re ensuring the future success of a major program, you have got to be diligent about track record. Dave Aranda does not have a long track record.
The college football world is littered with the “bodies” of promising coaches with great success at lower programs who were given a chance at major programs…..and failed spectacularly.
When this type of money is being waved around at such a prominent position, you CANNOT take such a big risk as hiring someone with one season of success as a head coach. Period.
I love Dave Aranda. He’s not ready. Will he be the next best thing? Maybe. Maybe not.
I’m not willing to take that bet as the LSU Head Coach right now.

I talked to an LSU staff member who said that he has

That does not mean his agent has not been contacted. I personally believe Scott has had the wheels in motion, and already learned of the interest from his primary target, whom ever that may be. Although he may be a good coach and probably successful at LSU, I just don’t see Aranda any higher than 4 or 5 on Woodward’s list.

A Baylor staff member who would even talk to Jordy would be someone who was with Aranda at LSU. Meatball? Grimes? Some GA?
None of them would likely know if Aranda has talked with LSU; or if they did it'd mean Aranda would plan to bring them, and in which case they'd not gab about it to someone like Jordy.

Stoops would be a lower Tier 2/Tier 3 hire. But any idiot can win at LSU ...
