Its amazing to me that coaches lie to fans each and every week about any and everything, but when it comes to job openings, they believe every word out of their mouth. Coaches lie for many reasons. Mostly to protect their season and their best interest.

So for all of you who are going to post threads in the future every time a coach says they arent going to talk about LSU, ask yourself, how it would help their current situation by saying " Yes! I would love to be LSU's coach next year!"

It does make you feel kinda warm and fuzzy inside. Even Urban Meyer had to comment on it.
seriously, everyone's talking about it. and it may not die down for a while, since we're only 5 weeks in. it's a big opening in CFB, and they know it will attract a big name.

which is why i don't understand some of our fans hesitancy when it comes to this. it's a big job opening, ripe for someone to come in and do very well.

I doubt Jimbo will leave FSU but not because of this denial. History shows these denials don't mean much.

If you really want to be a lawyer you can argue this wasn't even a complete denial. He says he "plans" to stay at FSU but arguably leaves open the possibility of changing his "plans" in the future.

I must be missing this part. I don't see where he said this.

You thought that this quote is worthy of a thread. My god we have some idiots that post here.

You are going to hear this same thing (or a similar version of it) repeated by 10 different coaches hundreds of times over the next 3 months. Please don't start a thread every time it happens. This quote means nothing.

Its leverage 101. You never make a definitive answer. Even if he would never in a million years take the LSU job, he would be dumb to say that.

These topics are hilarious.

Jimbo Fisher was asked during the weekly ACC media teleconference whether he was interested in the open LSU head coaching position. Jimbo's response was, "Hell yeah I am. I've already packed." Jimbo was subsequently fired from FSU 3 minutes later.

Good for Jimbo. He should stay there for the remainder of his career.

Nothing they say until after their bowl game will mean dick. Quotes like this isn't news. At all.

Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher as rumors about the LSU opening swirl: "I love this university and I plan on being here for a long time." On Monday he said he was unwilling to talk about the LSU opening but that he had not been contacted.

"I did not have sexual relations with that woman."

explain to me where that word "plan" means he is staying at FSU forever and will not entertain offers

You really do not understand how this works do you boy?

I assume he's trying to get a raise and/or favors from the administration at FSU.

Though it is possible that he's trying to deny interest in the LSU job but isn't really wording his denial very well.

They denied him a raise after the LSU flirtation last year. How do you think that made him feel?

What the hell is anyone going to say right now? "Sure, I'm in the middle of my season but I'm really interested in leaving here to go to LSU."

Come on, man.

"I will not be the head coach at alabama"

Gets used every time a coach says he's not going someplace and fans of that place want to hold out hope he does (or if a coach says he isn't leaving and rival fans want to hold out hope a coach leaves).

Always taken out of context. The reporter pressed Saban and Saban said he wasn't going to comment on the job. Guy kept pressing and said something like "if it isn't an option why not just say you aren't going to be the coach at Alabama?" Saban then said, "well if you want me to say it I guess I gotta say it. I will not be the Alabama coach".

He shouldn't have ever said it, but the context helps.

I dont blame Saban one bit for that comment. Things change every day in one of these searches. The media will not let you be vague these days, otherwise they think it's a foregone conclusion they you are leaving.

It's a no win situation, so you might as well defuse it as best you can.

And he lied. The point is coaches lie about jobs and pretty much anyone can be bought. It should be used every time this scenario is relevant.

I don't really want Jimbo but when will people learn that this kind of talk means NOTHING! They would never admit it and definitely not this early.
