I know people who worked with him at Colorado, besides lying, no one thought he was particularly engaged

You should do the opposite of what Saban says, you think he's gonna tell his biggest rival to hire the best coach lol. Gtfohwts

Exactly.

All that matters in recruiting is winning and NFL track record.

A&M is recruiting better without their former black head coach.

Yeah, for some specific reason I’m sure he did

Yeah that’s the odd part when people talk about his “upside “ the guy has been around a while and has never had that huge success in any of his bigger roles that would lead you to believe he’s up next. This is the first time he’s made any kind of noise and we don’t know how legitimate it is yet.

49 isn’t old but it’s not like “man when this guy figures it out in a few years he’s going to kill it “
I think others mean something else when they talk his upside

LSU should get a big name. They would be feared again. Someone many wouldn’t think would leave their program.

LSU doesn’t have to resort to trying to find the “next Saban.” That person is unlikely to
exist.

bullshite. Saban bitches and moans left and right about anything and everything. He would not welcome any disadvantages in recruiting or an offensive coach that gives him extra stress.

challenge. It's also good for his brand and ego to have another former assistant heading up an SEC team.

Saban does not need anything to be boosted.

It’s not even like Saban thinks he would be a bad hire. Saban may think he is a good coach. He is not someone Saban fears.

I’d love to see LSU hire a Riley or Urban type. Now that would be unreal recruiting. Especially Riley. LSU would be an absolute force. Saban has no plans to retire, so let’s try to change his mind.

7)Tucker's buyout is 6 million before Jan 15th and drops to 2.5 million after Jan 15th. Therefore, money isn’t an issue.

Buyout is 19.24 million per USA website from a few days ago and Orgeron’s was accurate on the site.

I doubt seriously Woodward stops his search after a conversation with Saban and says “ok, thanks, Nick! I’ll hire Mel!”
Hell, Saban probably wants to name Napier his successor at Bama and is steering us to Tucker. IF THIS SCENARIO HAS EVEN TAKEN PLACE!

For the poster saying Chadwell is a better choice than Napier: I respect your opinion. I think Chadwell is a good coach. But I look at where he’s coached prior to Coastal, and I don’t see an impressive list. And I can’t see what kind of recruiting ties he has having never coached anywhere bigger than CC. I think if I were a P5 team looking for an OC, or maybe a Vanderbilt, I would definitely take a look.

And although he has more HC experience than Napier, again, it’s been mostly at a much lower level than Napier. Napier has an impressive list of mentors and experience at big time programs. He’s recruited LA for years, and certainly has the connections there. In my view not only is Napier the clear choice between he and Chadwell, it’s not really close.

No. If that were the case he'd have remained in the NFL.

Saban is all about exploiting every competitive loop hole possible to provide him tons of advantages over his competition and he's somewhere that will cut every check necessary to do it. The man has 0 interest in making his road any tougher than it is. I'm not even discrediting him, he is the unquestioned college football GOAT

Scott is a forward thinking guy. He believes Tucker is a future star. He believes Tucker will change the sec as the only African America head coach. When he wins championships, the others will have to follow. Tate has endorsed this belief and has put his stamp of approval on the hire

If any of this is true, it is some of the dumbest, most specious, illogical reasoning I have ever seen. Did having a black coach at Texas change the Big 12 and force all the other teams to adapt? Did Shannon dominate and spark a revolution at Miami? Did Sylvester Croom conquer the SEC? Is Tucker himself altering the landscape of the Big Ten, or have the traditional powers remained at the top of the recruiting rankings and the standings? The implication of the paragraph above is that Tate believes hiring Tucker will lead to some radical future where all SEC coaches are black, and until such time Tucker will have an insurmountable advantage because he is black. I refuse to believe that the leadership of LSU is so gullible, foolish, and blatantly invidious.

The person that started this thread can’t be as ignorant as they appear. Maybe they are the educational system has failed. Woodward would never entertain a Saban recommendation for head coach.
