It may seem we have been outbid, or have gotten beat to the punch on our top guys..

LSU’s problem hiring the best coach available in the past has been been bad timing, not necessarily because we weren't the best job. Lots of good schools needed a coach this year (mostly because they weren't paying their guy enough) which makes it tough on us.. just like last time, those coaches choosing to go to other big names of the past will not be as successful as they would have been coming to our rich talent pool in La, and will be shown their mistake when LSU finds its next coach.. Louisiana is an island due to our culture..Louisiana kids love LSU because they love Louisiana. The rest are just typical southern schools… they will regret it.. and the guy that chooses LSU will be glad he did.. Woodard will hire a guy that knows that, and we will keep our wall up.. for the simple fact that Louisiana is an island of culture (like no other) that our kids and their families love.. im so excited for this hire… i cant wait.. trust Woodard..

We certainly weren't outbid, it sounds like Scott may have put all his eggs in the wrong basket, I can't blame him for chasing the big one, I just hope he has a contingency plan.

We're a good job but not a good destination apparently. Nobody wants to coach here that's worth a crap.

Why is a dude whose never won a playoff game “the big one”

I’ve hated on O since he accepted the job. Like this forums biggest O hater as long as long as he’s been here. Even when everyone loved O, I wish he’d get fired. But even he has a better resume than Riley.

I don’t get all the Riley love. OU plays in a terrible conference. Beats up on it until the post season, and then gets waxed. The name brand notoriety brings in a couple 5 stars every year but he doesn’t even recruit very well for OU being a national, historical program.

I don’t see Riley as any better than Campbell or Napier.

I hope we don’t get Riley or Aranda.

Yup! If it’s not him then F him. Whoever we bring in will just make him his bitch every year and we’ll have a laugh about it at his and OU’s expense.

I don't get all the Napier love, so I guess we're somewhat similar in our lack of understanding, let's just collectively hope Scott has a contingency plan.

We can't settle for Mark Stoops.
You have to take a chance on a young up and comer, like we took a chance on Will Wade.

What’s weird to me is how LSU doesn’t really have any Alumni in the coaching ranks. Kirby was a bulldog, Gundy was a poke, Dabo is an elephant and just waiting for his call, Heupel is a sooner, Spurrier was a gator, Harbaugh was a wolverine, but LSU really hasn’t produced any coaches.

because of one season???

he is the very example of what LSU can do for you.

Riley has a better resume than O. How can you say otherwise?

You really don't think Riley would translate even better at LSU?

How much of it all has been smoke and mirrors? When certain names get mentioned, how quickly do the distractions and smoke screens become overwhelming?

I think it's Dave... well, I hope it's Dave, because we've completely struck out if we let Dave sit in Waco or go back to California.

BR is a dump. this will always affect who wants the job. not to mention we just fired a 51-20 coach who won a natty in 2019

you think Oklahoma city is better? Been to Austin lately? Gainesville? Waco? Los Angeles? every city has a good and bad neighborhood to live.. and they all know it.. that’s irrelevant right now.. even south bend has bad areas.. .
you put the coach up in a good area.. we have good areas that i would move to in a second if i could afford it.. in any city that these coaches are going to..
the difference is - Louisiana has a culture that no other has.. if u dont get it.. then u probably shouldn’t be LSU’s next coach..

What was O without LSU?

A 10-25 coach.
