a&m is going to have a decent roster next year. the OL is shaky, but outside of that we are going to be better than we were this year

The answer to the original question is, “no.”

that doesn't tell the entire story

2017 total disaster

2016 slaughtered at Louisville and their best win was South Florida.

2015 I don't think they beat anyone worth a shite. Ton of ugly wins that year.

Hell I look back at 2014 when they went back to the playoffs. They looked like shite all year long and everyone said just wait until they turn it on.

He's definitely going to have to do something to find that magic again and Aggie is not a better situation than FSU. Asinine.

The ONLY advantage FSU has is a much weaker conference and easier path to success

1) The ACC has been the best conference in college football this year and last year.
2) Everyone talks about coaches not wanting to come to the SEC West because of Saban, but Fisher is in the same division as Clemson in the ACC. Saban's run of dominance at Alabama is probably a lot closer to being over than Dabo's at Clemson, considering their ages.

So yeah, that might not even be true.

I think Fisher views aTm as an awesome opportunity because it's a very good job. I think he'll say yes, unless he's just completely not interested and just playing everyone (which I don't believe is true).

A decent roster recruited to whatever Sumlin's program philosophy is. Unless Jimbo is going to have a transition offense that utilizes similar concepts to what A&M did the last few years, that is still going to be a project for him. The defense is significantly worse than the one he currently has.

Also, usually the first recruiting class is a disaster with the change. So that should be factored in as well.

This year? I'm looking at the CFBP rankings, and see 3 SEC teams in the top 6. You really think the ACC is better?

This class actually looks like it’s going to hold together well. We haven’t had a decommit since Sumlin was fired and everyone who was going to sign early is saying they still will right now. Lots of time left but I am surprised at how little has gone wrong on that front so far

The early signing period will make things interesting. The other issue is whether those committed fit what Jimbo will do, though.

For instance, Chavis likes to have a speedy defense that relies on stopping the run with numbers. I don't think Jimbo subscribes to that philosophy.

Yes. Also the rumors on Sumlin have been swirling since September so I think most guys knew the score when they committed/stayed with us this fall. I actually like this recruiting class a lot

True. Our writers have said all commits are being strongly encouraged to be on campus for Dec 8th visits where they will presumably meet Fisher and whatever assistants have been put in place. I am guessing what processing occurs will take place then

That's interesting. I wonder if most of the kids will be able to make that trip.

why? tell me what FSU has that makes its situation demonstratively better outside of they made the right coaching hires two times in a row and a&m didnt

TAMU hasn't been feared in almost 30 years. You have posters ITT referencing pre WWII ffs.

If money were the only thing it required to be successful then there would be a lot more programs winning. There's something about that gig that makes it a stinker. You'll have to figure it out.

Meanwhile, FSU is one of the most recognizable brands in all of college football, have a better recruiting base IMO + more national recruiting appeal, and outside of Clemson play against a bunch of programs who really don't give a shite about football.

FSU is a top 4-7 job

TAMU comes in around top 20. You're not even the best job in your own state

Best job or best program in state?

Hell, aggies will pay you top 5 money and be happy if you win more than 8 games. Jimbo could get a statue at A&M.

texas boosters are toxic as hell. They just had to settle for their 8th or 9th choice in 2012. They got their first choice last year but it was basically a one In a million coaching search. It would be like if chad Morris won 10 this year and A&M hires him. Sure he’d be a good get, but it wouldn’t be an “impressive hire”.
