I agree 100%. Jimbo's brand is hot still even with a team that gave up on his arse this year. Get the $$$$$$ now. However, I am not sure that he will ever meet the expectation that comes along with this kind of money. I am not sure that he is that good of a coach, frankly.

i think there's a good chance he goes if for no other reason than FSU has got to be getting sick of the games

that plus he has to overhaul his staff anyway and if A&M is willing to pay him he may as well start over under a new deal with a little more leeway.

Jimbo can go 7-5 next year at TAMU and the natives will still think they have titles in their future. He does 7-5 next year at FSU and that fanbase is done with him.

I've now heard $64M over 8 years, and $70M over 10 years. Both of those are pretty insane for Jimbo. He will have a short rope.

I think it's very likely he goes to aTm.

But it's not like aTm would look terrible if he ends up saying no. They'd just move on to the next candidate.

Sumlin has you guys in the playoff rankings last year, with a great recruiting class coming in. I know you guys don’t like to hear it, but TAMU historically has a low ceiling.

then you never watched him at cincy, auburn, LSU or FSU. i think he is silly if he leaves FSU for the faggies. why? even though jimbo is damn good there is still only so much you can do at certain schools. chavis was good at tennessee and LSu but sucked in faggieland. jimbo is looking at same fate IMO. he will win but will he win hardware there? NFW am i going there if i am jimbo. If i wanna win in SEC i am going to LSU, UF, Bama or AUburn if any of those were open and offered. maybe UGA. but all those are closed especially after joe alleva blew it in 2015.

A&M has had low ceiling results because we’ve played our hands overly conservative.

Schools like Auburn play high risk/ high reward. We haven’t had that mentality in the past.

A&M is going through a cultural change. Moving away from alumni who were happy to win 6 and beat texas every now and then.

We had a long period of being a tiny all male school, and it took a while to transition. We ain’t going back.

Passionate fan base, hungry to win big, money, support, and recruiting grounds.

Unfortunately, this is the state of P5 foorltball today. A lot of ADs with far more money than sense driving the market to a level that is not sustainable, long term. You end up throwing Saban-level money and terms at his who, while very good, aren’t on that level.

all 4 of which have won nattys in the last 11 years and all 4 have played for at least 2 nattys in that time frame as well.

LSU-07, 2011

UF-06, 08

Auburn, 2010, 2013

Bama- no explanation needed

Really depends on what you deem as "historically". In the 80's and 90's A&M won 7 Conference Titles and had another season we were undefeated but on probation. For instance when I was in school we lost 1 home game in 4 years. We made the disastrous hire of Fran from Bama but in the end we still hired a coach from Bama that you didn't want to lose at the time. We also hired Jackie Sherrill away from Pitt and made him the first coach with a million dollar contract. Pre WWII A&M was an elite program with multiple NC's. We are Top 15 in all time wins. Our current drought is the longest we have EVER gone without a Conference Title in the history of the program. We are currently the #1 Revenue AD in ALL of college sports.

We sucked hard from Post WWII-the early 70's outside of a few seasons because we were an all male, primarily military school at that time.

A&M has an incredibly high ceiling, we just have done a crap job of taking advantage of it. There is really nothing we don't have from a resource perspective that keeps us from being an elite program, we just haven't been because we are fantastic at stepping on our dicks and underachieving.

Based on this you are correct....but the problem is the three teams in the West that you typically finish behind are all ranked above you, not to mention three teams in the East!

and the point remains that many of those programs were right where a&m is right now, for a long period of time, until they made the right coaching hire

FSU is a better situation. That's gotta worry you somewhat.

You're basically banking on Jimbo revitalizing his career because the past three seasons, FSU has looked awfully pedestrian against mostly teams who don't have 1/10 the talent Jimbo runs out on the field.

I would laugh my butt off and breath a sigh of relief if Fisher jilts A&M. But alas, I think Jimbo's taking the job. Hope I'm wrong.
