Is LSU Miles's Top Priority?

Is this a fair comment? I really don't know where even I come out on it, but here it is:
"If LSU truly were Miles's top priority, he would simply withdraw his name from consideration for the Michigan job and tell the world -- including recruits -- that he's done so; however, by remaining silent, he proves that his first priority is obtaining the Michigan job rather than protecting the LSU program, including by assuring recruits and players that he's going nowhere."
Accurate or not? A secondary question may be, "Even if the statement is accurate, is it not nonetheless Miles's priority to do so?". But for now, please just give your thoughts on the accuracy or not of the quoted statement. Thanks.

You are 100% right. Had he said what Stoops said after Carr retired, this would not be a distraction. Stoops isn't worried about some dream job elsewhere--he'd rather kick the next team's arse. Too bad Les wasn't similarly committed.

Ditto, if he plans to stay he would have (should have) said so. I am sure LSU would have upped his pay if he stays, regardless of the mind games going on. This cow patty is not dry all the way yet and someone will step on it after the championship game.

I would have to say that while I hope his attention is on the SECCG. that I'm concerned that both he and Pelini's minds are elsewhere.
Get ready - for years to come we are going to have to hear about how Miles/Pelini cost LSU a MNC this year due to job searches/personal interests getting in the way of game preparation.

It is a priority because:
1) The deal is already done. No need to focus on anything but UT.
2) The deal is not done, and another loss would hurt his stock.
It was his priority last week also because:
1) He was trying to win a NC.
2) He would have been a top 3 paid coach if he won the NC.
You are thinking way too much. I talked to 2 different players since Sunday. They both say there is NO difference. Business as usual. They both commented that this Senior class (they are both Seniors) wants this SECCG Badly.

It would be your priority too if you were in his position. You give up your dream job just to be loyal for loyalty sake ? Where will that get him if he loses 3 or 4 games each of the next 2 years ? FIRED. The man has to make his move and the time is right.

This has turned into a bigger distraction than he thought it would be. Miles is not coming out looking good here because he does have divided loyatlies. I did not think it would be a problem but now that the moment has arrived, it has become a BIG problem. I sense that many people feel that it will be hard for Miles to stay after all of this because he loyalties were so divided. It may be unfair but if you are coaching a team with real NC aspirations, you must renounce all other jobs distractions etc. He cannot have both.

No, Randy, I do not want him to lie. As I said in my first post, whether it's Miles's prerogative to do what he's doing is an entirely separate issue. Perhaps you're reading too much into my question. Again, my question is, simply, this and nothing more: "Today, November 28, 2007, Les Miles is the head coach of the LSU Football Team. In that capacity, is he putting the LSU Football Program ahead of all other interests?"

The question is...Is Miles a priority for LSU??? If Skip really wanted him to stay, don't you think they would have already offered an extension, to get rid of all the rumors once and for all.

Skip should have learned from the last time to call this guy out.
Comment to the press Les needs to state where he stands. I think the day after the SECCG would be the latest. Don't distract the team before the game but put a full court press on afterward.

I think this is exactly the situation. Carr announcing his resignation so soon really gummed up the works. You can tell that Miles wants like hell to be the coach at Michigan. But he wanted the national championship too. He tried to have both but was unable to pull it off.

Of course he isn't. How can he be. The dude wants the Michigan job. Perhaps we should have known it since he was hired. Perhaps we shouldn't mind because he's "going home" or "mama's calling". But I do mind some. I would have rather seen LSU give 100% concentration on the title run but I don't think we saw that.

This is why I am almost 100% that Miles is GONE if offered. He simply wouldn't be cutting his nose off despite his face just to "focus on the next game here" or whatever. He would come clean, reassure the recruits that he is committed to LSU and will be here for them, and put this puppy to rest. Since that hasn't happened, and he's drug this out, it brings me to the only conclusion that I can come to, and that is that he is gone. All I can hope for now is that he wins the SECCG, and gets what he wants quickly by coming clean right after the game, and allows LSU to get busy in the interview process. This is very important for LSU as well as UM, which is why I think we will all get the word in days if not hours after the game this weekend.

This is what I was saying back on Sunday or Monday... I don't want him to go, but all signs point to that, and FWIW, I think he IS doing the best to handle it as decently as possible. Am I the only one who things Carr threw a wrench in everything on purpose by announcing when he did???
