Is it just my bias, or is LSU the best DC job available?

I'm genuinely curious if there is a better job out there. Not just from a financial angle, but from the stand point of coming in and having all the pieces in place to have a team ready to compete for a national title again.

If we're talking specifically about Marcus Freeman, the talent to run his 3-3-5 is ABSOLUTLEY there. The defensive backfield is f*cking loaded, the DLine should be well suited to make the shift from a 4-3, the only question is how the LBs will look, which just so happens to be the position Freeman played and coaches!

Couple that with bringing in one of the architects of the best offense if CFB history and you've got a recipe for a playoff run.

Texas is reeling from Herman, Auburn appears to be a shite show, Michigan... HA, and Notre Dame has proven they just don't belong in the conversation with the big boys.

So really, am I biased? Or would Freeman be silly to pass it up?

The DC position at LSU is one of the best jobs in the country.

Sometimes bias and fact line up. We are biased, but still right here. It’s as good of a DC job as it gets.

Just to play devil’s advocate:
LSU fan base is extremely fickle. Crapped all-over Aranda who basically held the program together for several years and the ran Bo Pelini out of town after the divas on defense didn’t respond well to old school coaching style.
What’s not to like?

...and all the next DC has to do to show improvement is be better than 124th in the country.

...and coordinator jobs at the big time sec schools typically land you big time power 5 jobs. Smart, Pruitt, Aranda - all of their first hc jobs were at power 5 schools rather than group of 5.

Yes. Best DC job available.

Reasons it's the best:

- pay is among the best
- it's in the SEC
- talent is there for immediate success
- recruiting more and more talent will never be an issue
- if being a HC is your goal, it will get you where you want to be quick

Reasons it's not the best:

- your HC just hired and fired two coordinators after one season, either from not getting along with them or for poor performance

- title 9 clouds hanging over the program

You do realize a coordinator probably doesn’t give much of a shite what the fan base thinks on a message board??

Pirate King does not represent the entire fan base. He had a few Orgeron first fans following his lead, but probably 95% of the fan base realized Aranda was a great coach.

These are actually fair points, but the sunshine in me is hoping that LSU fans learned their lesson this past season.. all who shite on Aranda in 2019 wanted him back badly in 2020.. and there is no more holding every team to under 20 pts & less that 300 yds.

in fairness, Ensminger stepped back, he was a hell of a coach and i think it was a mutual parting of ways, but O really liked the guy and they seemed to work well together

Any coordinators job at LSU is a top 5 job in America. The people hiring the coaches seem to not understand that. Over paying for coaches when they will only be here 3 years tops before getting a HC job.

I was talking about Canada and Pelini. Not Ensminger.

this. aranda isnt a 12 year old on social media. doubt he cried and searched for a safe space. how much of our opinion makes it back to the coaches? is it bulletin board material for the next game?

history, in-state recruiting, national recruiting, resources, brand, recent success, returning players, conference performance and exposure- this makes lsu the BEST available DC position as of right now.

texas has a helluva fight with aTm and the other state programs. that waters down the recruiting a bit. notre dame just doesnt get the difference maker athletes on a regular basis (see playoff performances). auburn doesnt like to spend a lot and is not gonna get in a bidding war while they pay handsomely to malzahn and steele.

Agreed. Money and access to the best athletes to display the coordinator's own talents is what would usually rule. And this goes especially for a coordinator looking to take the next step.

Are we sure that was the case?

It was the players fault?

Or was Pelini just not up to date on how to stop modern offenses?

It is the best job on the table and we would pay the most. The problem specifically with Freeman is he’s in Cincy right now and BR is a shite hole outside of football. Southbend is way closer to Cincy, and if the pay is close I can see him settling for that, however it wouldn’t get him a legit P5 HC gig as quickly!

Just because one guy started a thread every week, doesn't mean he represented the majority of the fan base. TD has a select group of members who are Orgeron fans over LSU fans. They will shite all over any and everybody who Orgeron didn't hire, or anybody who didn't hire Orgeron. That list includes: Aranda, Woodward, Mainieri, Wade.

Orgeron can do absolutely no wrong to these people. Pirate King defended Pelini all season, just as much as he bashed Aranda. He was starting Aranda should be fired threads all the way up to the national championship.

Again, these select few idiots don't represent anywhere near the majority of the fan base.
