It’s definitely something I’ve heard on sports radio, then the story comes out about his assistant coaches ( grad assistants I believe) thinking they were invited to a party and instead he made them shovel snow and park cars .
Put it all together and the media is having fun with the narrative that he’s not a very good person.

Honestly I don’t think anyone really liked the guy as a person here but as a football coach I’ll take him in a heartbeat

If you look at his ND staffs’ biographies you’ll see a lot of them played for him and /or coached for him at Cincinnati before joining him at ND. Or played for him at ND. So it’s nothing against him personally. They are just trying to figure things out in a very fluid situation.

In the end, I think several will follow Kelly to LSU, but those hirings will not be announced until after the bowl season at the earliest and/or after current LSU assistant coach contracts expire or get bought out at the latest.

As pointed out above, several of the coaches on Kelly's ND staff have been with him since Grand View and/or Central Michigan and/or Cincinnati.

Consider this; Brian Kelly is public enemy #1 there. Do you think Rees, ND QB and grad wants to ruin his reputation by leaving at this time of need for the program? I get it.

Rees is getting a raise for the same position by the way.

No. DC is about to be the new HC and the OC just graduated from ND.

No... Notre Dame is keeping basically their entire staff (minus Kelly) with a chance to make the playoffs this year.
Someone downvoted this?

Again, consider exactly what you would ask of them-

A) Stay at Notre Dame (for now), coach the 11-1 team through a bowl (possibly the playoffs), with a chance to make names for themselves if they do well
or
B) come to LSU now to help recruit.

Kelly's not coaching LSU in the bowl. His assistants will not be involved with THIS team, even if they did come over.

The season is NOT over yet. You still have bowls, conference championships, heck the teams that make the finals still have 3 games left.

That's what makes this strange timing. Oklahoma, this time last week, still had playoff aspirations, now they are going into a bowl with a different HC and coordinators. They had more coaches leave their staff than LSU did players once they were out of contention.

People don’t like lateral moves and Freeman is looking to take the HC spot. I never saw his assistants coming to be a realistic thing.

You can always tell that it’s one of those thoughts you wish you didn’t make a thread about when there are 3 pages and you haven’t replied to any of the differing comments.

None of Saban's assistants came with him from Michigan State. That worked out OK

Um...isn't it quite obvious that they'd all prefer to work for Freeman than their former boss? What does that tell you about their former boss?

Most all of us work for bosses. There are some we'd follow to the moon if they went there. There are some we wouldn't.

You got the latter as your brand new shiny $95million head coach.

With the recent example of the ability of the program to pull top talent from what was previously considered untouchable .... would you want your pick of the entire NCAA Football world or only the guys that were at ND ?

We've lived through a coach coming and not bringing any assistants. We know how it can turn out.

You have never lived through a coach telling you that the program you love isn't as good as you think.

Stop lashing out at us and look within at your own unhappiness.

Tommy Rees is a former ND quarterback…you really think he was leaving ND?

He's also a Kelly guy though. I listened to the Blue & Gold Illustrated podcast a couple of days ago, and they were afraid Rees would follow to LSU.

A lot of this came down to timing. If ND still didn't have a shot at the playoff, they may have waited for Fickell, or gone after Campbell. We'd likely see more movement from their staff if Freeman wasn't promoted.

If you just ignore all the contacts around the situation, sure.

But there are other reasons those coaches are not coming that have nothing to do with Brian Kelly
