Well said. HOWEVER, this hire is critical and can bring the fan base back together with a knock out hire. He needs to be a business man and not a freaking reed waving in the face of public opinion. Get a backbone and don't give a shot what others think. Be an arse!
With that said, we have PR department. Where are they with all of this? What are they paid for?

Alleva leaked the Jimbo info to Rabalais in a poorly thought out attempt to garner public support. Rabalais ran with it and it COMPLETELY BACKFIRED on Joe.

If he had handled it like UGA, we'd have had Jimbo this year. Instead he tried to play games and it negatively affected this team.

OP is 100% on point. Alleva couldn't handle the optics of the UF delay earlier this year either; allowing Foley to get out ahead of him (even though for all intents and purposes Alleva was in the right).

The guy's PR is shite.

I mean, I'm not Alleva's biggest fan, but I'm not blaming our unintelligent coonass fans for wanting to hire another coonass permanently on him

Honestly, I just don't think Alleva understood how possible it was for this to turn into an O vs whoever else he wanted situation.

He failed to appreciate the possibility of making a move midseason and allowing months and months of speculation and people choosing sides could lead to another love hate split in the fanbase.

I'm still not sure what we gained by getting rid of Miles midseason other than a few weeks of feel good wins over shitty teams. Was that worth this divide when we were finally having a chance to get past all the posi/nega tiger bias with a brand new coach that everyone would have just been happy to welcome as a positive change?


We may not have broken insignificant records the way we did, but we very easily could have won the same games and played Bama tough if Miles was still here. And everyone still would have been thrilled if he was let go at the end of the season and announced Jimbo as the coach.

But, in my opinion, Alleva was still pissed that he lost the opportunity to do it last year and just wanted his moment to say frick all of you, especially Miles, and say see I was right!!

Well, good for him. He had that moment, we had a fun month and a half, and now we are staring at a ridiculous division between the fanbase over a national championship winning quarterback guru and the guy that Ole Miss fired for going winless in the SEC after three straight declining years because he talks like them and isn't Les Miles.

It is absurd, and could have easily been avoided if Alleva would have just swallowed his pride and had the foresight to see that by putting a person in position to claim the coaching position rather than letting his hiring process make the decision he completely lost control of the situation, yet again, and could do serious long term damage going forward with the fanbase split again the way it has been over Miles for so long.
