Here's the thing. If you are LSU you dont get into a bidding war with fricking Houston. You offer your offer. If they match it, you say "The difference is what it costs to make the big move" .

I'm guessing Texas has multiple billionaire boosters.

Tillman Fertita has very, very deep pockets. He is the Chairman, CEO and sole owner of Landry's, Inc., one of the nation's largest restaurant companies. Perhaps many things might keep UH from keeping TH but money will not be one of them.

I was about to post this. Their big money is all his big money and it is substantial. Think Donald Trump style. Hell he's probably worth more than Trumps

He didn't become heavily involved with the University and AD until he was appointed a Chairman of the Board of Regents in 2015.

And yet UT, Oregon and Baylor have been mentioned in rumors and we haven't heard a peep about LSU. Interesting.

What's a money guy in the context of UH? The branch manager of a local bank?

Fertitta just cut a $20mil check for UH's basketball arena. For perspective, LSU's largest individual donation was $20mil and it was given anonymously when an alumnus died...Fertitta just dropped that on their shitty basketball program without batting an eye.

He has family in LA and as you say, property here too.

I wouldn't read into LSU being mentioned first.

It doesn't matter. Houston is still a stepping stone program, even if they've managed to go up the ladder a few rungs. They missed the boat to the Big 12, so they have no shot to become a more serious contender in the market they are in.

They need to be smart and put that money into making a 4th great hire to keep the program consistent.

No man this guy practically owns Galveston Island and a multiple chains of restaurants and Hotels. They can pay Herman whatever Texas or LSU will pay.
