You really think LSU is a top 6 school?

It was a top 5 job when Orgeron was hired, meaning one of the top 5 available. Absolutely.

The last part tells the story for LSU with coach O. You will always need great coordinators on both sides of the ball . This is the reason I want Mac fired. Having a head coach that doesn’t control one side of the ball is very risky.

Losing 3 games? That's what he did his last 4 seasons as head coach.

He reminds me of Gene Chizik. He might be a great recruiter and motivator, but he's not cut out to be a head coach.

NO he's not but "not doing so bad" should not be the measurement.

In order for me to start having complete faith in O he needs to do several things.

Win out reg season
Win bowl
Finish strong in recruiting (Marshall, Surtain, Joiner, etc)
Keep Aranda, Canada, and Raymond on staff.
Field an honest to God QB next year
Win 9-10 games in 2018.
Finish with a top 3 class in 2019 (while not losing any blue chippers to bama - preferably).

If he can do 4 of those 6 he'll buy himself some time.
All 6 of them and there is really only one remaining legitimate concern about him (how does he do without elite coordinators).

Although I think O has done a masterful job keeping this season afloat, I would still prefer to have Herman or Jimbo. We'll talk again after the results of that list are in.

Losing 3 games? That's what he did his last 4 seasons as head coach.

1: and he was fired for that

2: none of his losses were against Sun Belt teams. In fact, as I recall, he only lost 1 regular season OOC game, Wisky up in Green Bay, and that opened the door to his demise.

3: He lost only once to Miss St. O lost to them in stunningly bad fashion.

Les made the mistake of winning early and building up expectations. A 3 loss season was a wasted opportunity. O lost early, and so a 3 loss season will be a valiant recovery.

Oh, and bullshite on O being a first year HC here. He was acting HC for 7 games last season and has been on staff a couple years, he knew the team.

Herman took over a shite show, Fleck started 1-11 at WMU and eventually got them to the cotton bowl after a few years, Fisher's starting QB went down in week 1 and is a proven winner. Orgeron was already in the program.
The big thing is that those three are proven winners and deserve patience. Orgeron is a proven loser.
I'd take any of these three over Orgeron

So you can make excuses for the other coaches but your sorry arse can't give coach O the same benefit. That's a load of bullshite. O has turned it around and the team is playing well. You people suck goat arse.

The team is playing pretty well right now, but he shouldn't have had to "turn it around" so dramatically. His team was nowhere near ready when the season started and that has to be attributed to him as the head coach. This team should be 7-2 at worse and probably 8-1.

Hopefully he has learned something and has the team ready to go next season.

Your post ignores reality. Injuries or suspensions along the DL and OL created serious problems. This team had issues. They're playing good now and O deserves the credit for that.

I don't think that expecting even a severely depleted LSU team to easily handle Troy if not Mississippi State is ignoring reality or expecting too much.

Turned around from the way they were playing earlier in the season WHEN O WAS THE COACH!

Sad how fast and easy we lowered the standards

So someone says Tom Herman took over a team that had 3 losing seasons = excuse making
But we had injuries on the DL is why we lost to TROY is not excuse making. Got it

We aren't doing well in recruiting

I am hoping that a strong finish to the season will help O close the deal on a good class. We'll see.

If LSU loses one of the three remaining regular season games, though, that seat warmer is going to kick into overdrive. That could kill recruiting for this year.

No, if you're going to make excuses for one make them for the other. If not you're just a hypocrite.

Jimbo is Jimbo

But he took over a better program at LSU than Minny or Texas.
