I don't think Mullen leaves state now.

Is Mullen the odds on favorite for the job?

Probably in the top 5 or so. Many UF fans want Scott Frost

Personally I think Les Miles leaving LSU will have more of an impact on the west. I will take LSU several years to realize just how good they had it with Les. While LSU has done better than I expected this year people are starting to see glances of what's to come. I wouldn't be scheduling teams like Troy anytime in the near future.

Florida didn't fire Mac off back to back east championships, with an early signing period hanging in the balance, to replace him with Mullen.

I've seen Stricklin do this before, it means he has a guy lined up. And honestly, Chip Kelly seems to answer all the questions of why they made the move now rather than after the season.

Probably wrong, but something to consider.

I'd bet large that Mullen, who coached under Stricklin before, is the man. And I think he'd be a better choice than Kelly.

Hiring Kelly would be a disaster for UF. His system won't work in the SEC, he hates to recruit, and he wants another shot at the NFL.

Would be the wrong hire in all respects IMO.

I think Mullen is the best hire they could make. However, I know Mullen and Stricklin didn't have a stellar relationship, and I honestly don't think they will shell out the 6-7 mil to get him.

Not that they can't.

True

Disagree on this, nearly beat a more talented Auburn team for a natty and destroyed Tennessee. Remember at Oregon he mostly had 3 star recruits.

I think with a good DC, he would wreck shite. So we can disagree on this..

Mullen
Gundy
Kiffin

Are the names with low buyouts that fall into some of the parameters that Scott outlined in his presser

1. HC experience
2. known for QB development
3. "fun" offense
4. Can sell UF recruiting

Id add Frost and Kiffin are my tops due to already being in Florida and doing pretty well recruiting, but wouldnt hate any of those guys. Frost being a new HC is the only thing that may knock him below one of the others.

I think Kelly and Stoops fall in there as well.

Mullen isn't really known as a great recruiter. But obviously checks the other boxes.

Consider me disagreed. He's a Gus Malzahn who can't recruit, play defense, or play physical. He can't beat an SEC defense with a pulse to save his life.

If Mullen were to leave, I think we are in the best position we've ever been to make a great hire (in Mississippi State terms).

Let's not forget Stricklin's first basketball hire - none other than Rick Ray

Let's hope he's better at picking football coaches for Gator's sake.

Uga is going to own the east for the foreseeable future. Bama the west until Saban retires. I think mullin to uf is a wash for us bc it makes state easier to handle but Florida every year will be tougher.
Opens up landmass for recruiting for us but even more for bama.

Eh, I don't really dock him for that one. That hire was essentially a "who will actually take this job" hire.

I really don't see Dan leaving for Florida. All the rumors of his relationship with Stricklin, Megan (wife) saying when they were there before that she had to grocery shop in Orlando because of the UF fans and the fact that OM is in the dumpster/the 2019 MS class is going to be one of the deepest in the country plus the fact that he has incredible job security in Starkville make it hard for me to see him leaving now.
