That 10-15 years later he would be the most sought after coach in America.

What a weird world we live in

He clearly wasn't ready at that point in his career, especially when it comes to following Pete Carroll. Those early jobs were based on name recognition only.

In USC's defensive, he still hasn't won shite as a HC.

He's also only the most sought after coach in America because he's perceived as the best coach that's currently at a second tier job.

Frankly I'm surprised LSU hasn't zeroed in on Urban Meyer. I know he's a scumbag but that didn't stop them with Brian Kelly.

And the promise that Daddy would come with him.

THAT’S what those schools really wanted. Monte Kiffin as their DC.

Imagine telling OM after they fired Ed O that one day he would win a NC with an undefeated season.

How many scholarships were reduced while he was there? I know they lied to him about the Reggie Bush stuff, then got hammered with penalties after he accepted the job.

Kiffin finished #6 in the AP Poll his second season at SC with a postseason ban. By the following season however, the brunt of the NCAA sanctions had caught up to them.

If Pat Haden wasn't so stupid and impatient, Kiffin might still be at SC today.

He was also a drunk back then as he's been sober since 2016. Damn, why does USC lead to drunkeness? Sark had problems with the bottle there too.

He got crushed by the sanctions along with being an immature clown at the time.

And Carroll was 9-4 in his final season at USC. So it's not like the program hadn't started to slip just a bit before he got the hell out of dodge to let someone else deal with his sanctions. Kiffin was only one game worse in his first season, and was a 10 win team in year 2. He dipped in year three and that set the stage for his firing in year. Maybe he would have been good in the long run. But when the expectations are championship or bust, any slight regression is not tolerated.
