Spinning “willing to walk away from a playoff team” as a positive thing is fricking stupid. Cmon man.

It requires no spin. If this happens, it only means Kiffin understands his ceiling is much higher at LSU. No different than any other career minded person looking to maximize their professional achievements.

This.

I’m sure he’s looking at the “hot” names from the past coaching searches and comparing situations. All LSU has to do is point to guys like Fleck and Campbell, who should have jumped when their names were hot.

Of course, Ole Miss can point to guys like Herman, and going way back Mullen, as to why going to the bigger programs fails.

I would say the guy willing to walk away from a playoff team is pretty hungry, no?

You nailed it bubba. It really saddens me how much so few seem to care about the importance of honor in competition and leadership. This man has walked away from partial builds every single time and likely about to do it again and also instructs his men to cheat on a regular basis by faking injuries. If you hate that when it is done to you...why would you want it done for you? I just don't get the love for such a low quality individual just because he is pretty good at putting some points on the scoreboard

What coach is going to accept that contract?

Uh, if a coach won’t accept something along these lines, that speaks volumes. Someone who wants to be a HC and is confident in their ability to succeed jumps at this.

St. Nick literally spelled it out on Gameday & you can’t comprehend it. Bless your heart.

But if you are the one doing the hiring and are looking for someone to build your house...why would you want to hire the guy that has a long history of either being fired or quitting before he gets the roof put on?

Give him a reasonable contract with massive incentives for defined performance metrics.

People who say this are not rational people. No decent coach is going to agree to this at a major program.

So . . . . like Fla did with SunBelt Billy?

Or S, Car did with Baby Beamer?

Or is there a litmus tests for 'hungry and ready' coaches

This ridiculous logic will win you less awards than Kiffin has, but maybe you hold Conference USA titles in high esteem.

Anybody advocating for someone else is nuts. This dude has turned a middling butthcheek pimple of a program into a well oiled machine that is about to finish 11-1. Not to mention the coaching pool kinda sucks. All the other great candidates have strongly affirmed their commitments to their current schools. Lane could build a freaking dynasty here and put the whole conference on notice with the talent we bring in.
