Would he be a more legit candidate for some of these S e c jobs? I love the guy and would take him over many of the bigger names being tossed around for tenn, ark, ken, and aub

Take this crap to the political board.

Its a legit question. You don't think race has held charley strong back in the s e c?
Posted on 11/24/12 at 8:50 pm to Tiger Ryno
Nothing to do with race. He coaches at Western Kentucky. That is why he is getting 0 consideration.
Posted on 11/24/12 at 8:51 pm to Tiger Ryno
He still wouldn't be mentioned.

That's the same conference that Freeze and Dooley coached in. Malzahn's a candidate for SEC jobs this year as well.
I think race could play some factor but having no SEC pedigree hurts him as well.

I think it's more of his age. 35 I think.

Dooley coached in the WAC not sun belt and he had the background. Freeze had connection s with Ole Miss. Not even close to being the same as Taggert.

You right

He's also coaching at his alma mater. He might not want to leave.

being black is an asset not a disqualification and if he had more coaching experience then he would given a shot. Your post is confusing.
I have never understood that gross fat arse man in your sig pic, as ambers bf? do not understand.

^ This. Skin color doesn't play a factor anymore in coaching hires. Look at all of the black head coaches in the SEC over the last few years.
There is no question he has done great things at Western, just not sure if he's ready for the leap to the SEC. Sometimes a guy from a small conference to a BCS conference works out, sometimes it doesn't. Take Dooley for example, and then look at Hugh Freeze.

And this is why people shouldn't post about things they don't have a clue about.
There's a handful of reasons (NONE dealing with race) that address this issue:
1) Taggart is only in his 3rd season as a HC. Not just WKU but anywhere. He's only even been a position coach since 1999 and all but two of those years have been at WKU (spent 2 at Stanford). That is some seriously lean coaching experience.
2) Taggart will not leave WKU for a Kentucky opening or a Louisville opening. Simply because he's very loyal to his alma mater and they would consider that a slap in the face. It would put WKU behind the 8 ball and he wants to build that program up there. Out of state major offers? Sure. In state? No.
3) He is only in his 3rd year as HC at WKU. He's 15-20 and has not been in a bowl game yet. No one is going to give him a look until he can show he can consistently recreate what he's done this season.
A smart AD would give him a couple seasons before they'd even think about legitimately looking at him.
ETA: 3rd year, not 2nd

He can't be in his second year and have a 15-20 record. You needa fact check, boo.

They got screwed out of a bowl last year. In the last 8 games of the year, they only lost to LSU. They also beat every SBC team that went to a bowl.

This is Taggart's 3rd year. He took over the same time as Charlie and Joker. I agree with Belle's comments though.

Are you telling us he isn't white? I didn't know and don't care but he has done well at Western Kentucky. If the Hogs miss out on a more experienced and established coach I’m for giving him a look. Are you trying to make this a race issue?
