Then it would make sense to go to a place that would cut down in travel.

Chip will definitely have more opportunities to hook up with dudes if he goes to UF as opposed to UT so there's that.

I love when posters bring this up. He had a top ranked offense in the NFL, but he wouldn't cut it in the almighty SEC

People thought Meyer and Mahlzan's offenses were "gimmicky" and they both won conference titles and embarrassed SEC defenses.

UF probably has Frost above Kelly on their board.

Nick Fairley put himself on the map in that Oregon game, splitting dbl teams and wrecking Oregons backfield.

He already had the Lombardi award in his possession. Apparently you were the only one that didn't notice his play until that game.

To answer the question of the OP, Florida looks to be a total rebuild. They will need some aggressive roster management and whole lot of recruiting to right the ship. Chip inherited the Oregon program after being there as OC, so he didn't have to do any extra work in the roster management department. I don't think the UF job will be appealing to him. He will want a roster that is ready to win in year 1.

Before Oregon, he had coached only on the east coast. He's from Vermont or somewhere up there.

And if his offense isn't pretty enough

Wait, what? The guy who was scoring 60 a game at Oregon?

Kelly would be a knockout hire for Florida. I wouldn't want to deal with shite on a yearly basis.

I find it pretty funny that "his offense wouldn't work in the SEC". This isn't the SEC of 5 years ago. Bama, Georgia, LSU, and sometimes Auburn are the only great defensive teams in the league right now.

He hates dealing with boosters more than recruiting. He said it in his exiting press conference.

He is a good college coach.

On the other hand, coaches are not lining up to get into the SEC so they can be fired in year 3 because they aren't beating the team no one else is beating.

I think at a school like UF, A&M or UT Chip would be very successful with the players they pull. Plus he is a household name, kids especially on offense would love to be in his offense, killing teams by 40 pts.

He just needs a good DC to pull defensive recruits

fricking idiots everywhere on this board. His offense doesn’t work in the sec just look at LSU and auburn games yet he scored more than almost anybody else against that LSU team and if it wasn’t for the forced fumbles by honey badger on special teams LSU doesn’t win that game. He kept the auburn bf game closer than pretty much anybody all season, but yea his offense doesn’t work. Only worked in the fricking nfl before they let him have control and he traded everyone away.

Yea he hates recruiting but he was pretty damn good at it and would kill at a school like a&m and uf. But he will have to get permission from sec commish.
