Like a previous poster stated, Napier is getting the same kind of attention O got before he got hired. Be careful because he has a cult like following around here.

According to Athlon, Virginia tech is now on the napier bandwagon as well. There's going to be a long line for his services

"Virginia Tech continues to push discontent with Justin Fuente in Blacksburg. A name that’s making more and more sense for the Hokies is Louisiana’s Billy Napier. If he’s a possibility, expect VT to make a move."

Only one person is in a position to determine this, and he’s not on this board.

Oh well if the mighty Virginia Tech wants him, that changes everything.

Virginia Tech vs LSU apples to onions.....he may be on their list but they are miles behind LSU and so is their coaching interest.....I heard Southeastern in Hammond is interested....

If Napier is named HC of LSU around Dec 1st it was definitely Woodward's top choice. The only other name that would fit this time line is Petersen.

Why are people so adamant about who is a serious contender and who isn't when no one fricking knows?

He is also the most realistic hire. Dabo, Jimbo, Saban, Day, Riley are long shots. Aranda is unproven as a head coach, but he obviously has the defensive pedigree. Tucker is not impressive whatsoever. Fickell seems to be the Napier of the North, waiting for that right spot to open.

I agree that he is the backup plan, but I think he is an excellent backup plan.

he'd be a good coach in br.

not "first" on my list fwiw, but i'd be happy with napier as hfc at LSU.

Wait- I do think Napier would be a Top 3 candidate out of current G5 head coaches He and Chadwell are the hottest coaches in the lower tier schools (other than Fickell).

So, if you're dipping down there, it is legit. I tend to agree it is more of a fall back than a current P5 coach with equivalent resumes. Napier is 42 years old and Chadwell is 44 (Fickell is 48). Napier has better "big league" credentials than Chadwell, having been an assistant (or analyst) at Clemson and Bama, whereas Chadwell spent a long time at Charleston Southern without equivalent big league assistant experience (Fickell had a long tenure at tOSU).

But, those are the clear Top 3 guys in that category (obviously Fickell).
