If LSU takes the Saban/Miles hiring route again,

who do they look at?
You know, take a coach from a school that is second fiddle to the major power in their state. A coach who has had moderate success there.
So, if they take that same route again, what coaches fall into that category?

Jim Grobe doesn't really have a major power in the state, but he kinda sorta fits the mold.

Butch Davis don't fit the mold, but could very well be interested. UNC SUCKS period, and there's little can be done about it.

Jeff Tedford is a guy always mentioned along these lines, but he is a Cali native and I think it would be surprising if he left the state.
Karl Dorrell is another guy living in a shadow who has done decent work at UCLA, but so damn hot and cold, and another Cali native. The problem there is that UCLA, while maybe they're in USC's shadow, they're not exactly resource-limited.
Chris Petersen at Boise St. is going to talked about until he finally takes a big job. Maybe not quite enough years on the sideline for LSU to take him seriously right now, but like Urban Meyer, he may strike while the iron is hot and take the big gig.
And, I know it sounds crazy but Bobby Johnson at Vandy is a guy who I think has more coaching ability than it appears because he's at Vandy. Hell, Vandy doesn't even have an athletic department. Now, LSU doesn't need to bother giving the keys to an elite football program to a guy who is 15-43 at Vandy, but he's certainly a guy who's program appears to be limited by its environment.

I would not be surprised to see Tedford leave Cal. He is getting his fill of the literal "tree huggers" there that try to stop any thing that he said he needed done.

why not Lubick? He had success at CSU. refused nmerous offers from larger schools. THat was a hard gig being second fiddle AND in the WAC.
