Does anyone know if the White House visit will be televised or streamed?
With last night's win LSU achieved the highest ranking every in the Billingsley College Football Research Center rankings.

Final Rankings (former BCS computer poll): LINK

Historical all-time rankings through 2018 (2018 Clemson was previously highest ranked): LINK

Note that if LSU had won the 1/9/12 title game against Alabama it would have been the highest ranked team ever at that time too.
Why would it be in the Georgia Dome and not in Gainesville?

Syracuse Kickoff

Does anyone know when the kickoff time for the Syracuse game will be announced?

LSU was ranked #1 in the country before the tournament.

They were actually #2 or #3. The #1 team that year was DePaul who lost their first game to St. Josephs in the tournament that year. LSU was a #1 seed in their regional.

The timing of Saban screwed us. Spurrier and Meyer had already found jobs and the main names floating around at the time iirc were Petrino, Del Rio, Miles, Tedford, Ferentz, rich rod. I was hoping for del rio or Petrino.

I remember the final 3 rumored candidates to be Petrino, Mike Leach and Miles. Petrino "dropped out" when he realized he wouldn't be the choice.

Like the Bear. Announce his retirement, dead two weeks later.

That was before I was born, but I'm pretty sure everyone knew he was retiring the whole season.

Bear Bryant announced his retirement in the November of his final season. I think it may have been in the week following a loss to LSU. He died after the bowl game.
Is this the best record by a coach ever in this category?
I was 13 for that game sitting in the end zone of the student section as an 8th grader at U-High. I agree that I have never attended a game that matched the intensity since.

You didn't need to do that. I can afford $0.88 I just didn't want a bunch of people to make that mistake 18 x $0.88 is..like.. almost $20!

I just wanted to get myself out of the slapdick class!

1959 Parallels

Posted by PennsylvaniaTiger on 1/11/12 at 11:14 am
In 1959, #1 LSU beat #3 Ole Miss 7-3. From Wikipedia:

1959 -Billy Cannon's Halloween Night Run—Late in the game between #1 LSU and #3 Ole Miss, LSU was trailing 3-0. Then Billy Cannon returned a punt 89 yards for a TD, breaking seven tackles. The Rebels then drove down the field but were stopped on the LSU 1 yard line as the game ended resulting in a 7-3 victory for LSU in Tiger Stadium. The Rebels would get revenge however in the Sugar Bowl by whipping the Bayou Bengals 21-0 and were declared national champions by several polls. LINK

Could this be any closer to LSU-Alabama this year? No offensive TDs in the 1st game, both teams in top 3, then a 21-0 trouncing in New Orleans in the rematch?

The stats in the game even resembled this year's BCS title game: 1960 Sugar Bowl
This has been in the Harrisburg news for a while. Here is a link from April: LINK

Did CBS stop having night games? CBS televised LSU-Florida at night for 3 years in a row from 2007-2009.
