Yeah true…they would look dumb if they end up hiring him without going interim first. Maybe the backup plan is Drinkwitz after all.

It’s an easy answer. You row the boat. Not a flashy hire, but you will consistently win and recruit with him. He doesn’t sugar coat things. His players play with passion and he gives ELITE energy day in and day out.

LOL. It was in the works. He knew he was done in college football.

In other words, you’re incapable of admitting when you are wrong. Got it.

There is literally no where to go but up regardless of who gets hired.

He has said he is not going anywhere. Told his team, coaches, and administration.

I don't see much of a list left of desirable coaches.

The best coach available is probably a guy you’ve barely heard of.

I say give it to Baker on a 4 year deal and see what he can do.

If we need to go the coordinator route, the obvious choice is Glenn Schumann. He’s had the exact same development path as Dan Lanning under Saban and Kirby. He’s more ready to take over a big SEC program than any G5 coach out there.

If we’re going the defensive minded route, particularly a coordinator, I could definitely get on board with this.

Depends how much he likes coaching for his Alma Mater

He was begging local restaurants to give NIL to players in exchange for naming sandwiches after them a couple of weeks ago, so he may still be willing to listen.

I would have Dillingham second and maybe Key third if he would dump his DC, because GT’s defense is a bad joke. Maybe.

I would rather Schumann than Sumrall. Some will yell about that, but Sumrall hasn’t spent that much time in the P4, and the time he did was as an LB coach. He’s never run anything remotely close to the size of an SEC program. That doesn’t mean he can’t, but there’s some risk there that many just seem to ignore. At the very least he’s going to have a major learning curve.

Look at what Lanning did at Oregon. He knew what to do and hit immediately because of it. Schumann isn’t without risk, but he should at least know what it takes to be a head coach at a school like LSU.

Given the lack of big names taken off the board so far, that suggests LSU being all in on Kiffin makes perfect sense. There never were any obvious alternatives. Going with a less visible option is probably the best choice and one still available more than likely.
