Maybe you are correct. If he’s stays as long as he was at OM, it would be an eternity for us, given our recent history with coaches. If he’s got the resources and results to catapult him into the corridors of Saban and Bryant at LSU, he may never leave.

Lane has always been a nomad. I could see him doing it to us too, assuming he ends up here.

The days of coaches staying somewhere 10-20 years are mostly gone now anyway. You'd need a coach that's in a top 5 job, with little room for improvement there, and also someone who has no desire to go to the NFL.

If he can draw a 14MM+ offer from another school, that must mean he's been successful. If that's true, he's leaving a solid program behind.

If he's not winning and leaves, Who cares? Look at where coaches go after LSU in this era. If you can't win at LSU with the resources available, time for the ACC.

If he were to come here the only way he would leave is for the NFL. He wouldn’t leave LSU for another college coaching job

Oh no! We do this again and have a blast again in 4-5 years?!? frick off. I’m ready to hire Lane and do this again right after he’s hired. Inject it into my veins.

He leaves every 4-5 years because he’s advancing until he gets to the top. LSU is the top. Only way he leaves us is if he gets fired

So. If he wins a couple of Nattys, what does it matter?

Possibly. But at a school like LSU you could win a title in year 2.
Draw the joke of a schedule that ole miss has for the last few years and it's almost a given that you're a lock for a final 4 spot.

Maybe or maybe he knows he doesn’t want an NFL job and he stays at LSU until he retires like Saban at Alabama. Are you suggesting hiring a lesser coach that nobody will want to hire away from us just so you don’t have to ever worry about it? That’s nuts.

As soon as bama opens up he's gone from wherever he is. Deboar is has maybe three more years before being fired or pushed out.

The writing is all over the wall

Until he doesn’t. Eventually, Head Coaches often find their place, have success and settle down.

We KNEW Saban was sticking w/Bama for the long haul once he returned from the NFL. That’s what sucked the most. We all knew how good he was.

It’d surely be nice to be on the other side of that coin.
