None of us have a clue. Upside for tiger fans is there aren’t a lot of bad candidates out there. Kiffin is not happening & the only others that give pause are Franklin + Dabo — and many disagree with the sentiment that those two would be poor hires.

Why go to work for an AD when your current AD works for you?

Having an athletic Director that has no control or say so in anything is not a good thing.

It’s probably like that with boosters as well at A&M. Your ad has no control over them either.

Semantics - you know what was meant by it.

Money matters and would certainly expect A&M to fight to keep him. Jimbo would also think about his legacy at this point. Does he think he can win national titles at A&M? That's a question he can answer. Coaches at that level don't like to feel limited. Their egos simply won't allow it - the success and failure will be on them. With OU and Texas coming it, it's very possible Jimbo feels that he will be inherently limited by staying at A&M. Much like Auburn in the state of Alabama. He has no limits at LSU.

We aren’t Texas. There isn’t tension inside the AD about who’s running the show.

Everyone - school officials, big money boosters, common fans, and students - have coalesced around Jimbo Fisher and making sure he has what he needs. Everyone is united behind that singular goal because everyone believes that Jimbo Fisher gives A&M the best shot to win big.

If you say so

We’ll find out soon. Don’t worry. Everyone can only speculate rn. Nobody here knows what jimbo wants or why he wants it.

You make some valid points . But I think the deal has been made already . Jimbo will clarify soon .

Your post is fair. So is this question.

If Jimbo doesn’t believe he can win a title at A&M, then he won’t stay at A&M.

I think Jimbo’s pretty bullish on this program. I think his recruiting success has only proven that Texas A&M can win at a high level without a blue blood history. Sure, Texas and OU joining the SEC neutralizes an important advantage for instate recruiting, but Jimbo has proven that he can sign multiple five stars from inside and outside the state. As just two examples, he’s currently leading for Shemar Stewart out of Florida and Walter Nolen out of Tennesse. Both are consensus top 5 players nationally. The point here is that the A&M brand is really growing under Jimbo. If a school like Clemson can reach national prominence despite a lackluster history, so can a school like A&M - which has more resources, alumni, etc.

Does that mean that I think it’s easier to win at A&M than LSU? No, I don’t believe. But I also don’t think that’s the determinative question here.

OU doesn’t have more money than A&M, bit OU is an infinitely better job than A&M.

Even if it is, things change all the time. You never know when sexton is involved.

Dude is right in the middle of the most absurd CFB contract of all time. No hyperbole.

If we are throwing enough money at this to poach TAMU’s coach, we certainly can make Riley an interesting offer.

OU has more money than TAMU? Look, nothing is more fun than prodding aggie, but I seriously doubt that.

I prefer Aranda or Napier, but if we’re going to run at something shiny then it’s Riley > Jimbo > Dabo. Unless Woodward just has a massive man crush on Fisher.

If money was the only thing that mattered, Texas would have Nick Saban right now and they wouldn't be sweating bowl eligibility.

While A&M has more money, OU isn't some JV program cutting coupons and saving their pennies in a water jug.

A&M wastes money, never wins anything. OU spends their money more wisely. Haven't won a playoff game but OU is still a better program. Anyone not being a homer knows that. It's always been that way (maybe not from 1900-1940, I guess).

The reason Jimbo is more realistic is because of his history with Woodward. Obviously.

Riley is fiercely loyal to OU and OU will give him whatever he wants to stay. OU has the best AD out there. He never let Bob Stoops leave and he's not letting Lincoln leave either. If LSU offers $12mm, OU will as well.

I would be happy with either Jimbo or Riley.

I'd be happy with a few others, too, like Aranda and Petersen (if he still has it together). Let's just get one of those.

I don't think this hire is going to involve an up-and-coming coach or someone you would have to roll the dice on in some form or fashion. It's going to be an established stud on some level, be it college or pro.

I don’t want Jimbo. He’s peaked and the way he left FSU should eliminate forever his inclusion in any LSU HC search.

Riley may or may not be elite, but his best days are ahead of him as a HC. That coupled with LSU’s resources make a very compelling argument that Jimbo doesn’t.

You're looking at this exclusively through the lens of contract money. And not factoring in other variables.

The simple reality is that we don't know how Riley feels about LSU. I'm guessing he likes where is and may not have any desire whatsoever to pick up and leave for another school simply to make a few million more per year.

Conversely, we know that Jimbo loves LSU. He's wanted the head coaching job at LSU for the past 15 years. He visits Louisiana regularly for recruiting and coaching clinics. He knows and is friends with many people in the LSU administration.

Riley doesn't have those connections and I doubt he feels as passionately about LSU as Jimbo does. For that reason alone, Jimbo would be a more realistic option than Riley.

Idk of Scott is the best AD in the nation, but you can’t argue with the big pulls he’s made & his reputation in the industry
