re: I would like to address those who actually believe Jimbo is "Les 2.0"

Fisher could be Miles 2.0 not in the sense that their offenses are similar or in game management but in the end results: he would never beat Bama with his dated offense unless his team is loaded at every position.

please elaborate on this dated offense you speak of. I also ask that you provide details, and not speak in generalities.
Posted on 11/21/16 at 3:27 pm to TigerOne
To be fair, Bama is loaded at pretty much every position every year right now. I dont think I can knock down a coaches ability if it takes equal talent to beat the goat coach/team.

and Herman could be the next Charlie Strong for all we know
there's plenty of unknowns with coaching hires. But Jimbo has the tools LSU want (developing QBs), has set records at LSU and FSU on offense, and is a top 3 recruiter in all of football.
If Jimbo comes to LSU and retains Aranda, LSU will immediately be catapulted into a championship contender again. Day 1.
I don't know what else you people want.

It is great but consider 27-1 with J Winston one of the best QBs in CFB history and 49-16 without which is still great but he also didn't have to play the SEC coaches in the ACC. He's a great coach and I agree is probably the safe hire.

Saban, Meyer or someone like them. That's the only thing that would keep the rabble from speaking up.

They are fricking morons clinging to bubble screens and the fact jimbo runs a "pro style offense."
so much truth here
yet not 1 of them can give me the ins and outs of his offense. If it's so dated, why does he consistently get top of the line QB play, even from freshmen?

you're proving my point even further
Jimbo took "one of the best QBs in CFB history" out of Bamas backyard, won a title with him, and sent him on his way via #1 draft pick and a starter in the NFL
I don't believe Les could have surpassed that number with Winston, for all the reasons I posted in the OP. He and his staff did not develop QBs. Jimbo has been a QB coach since 1988!
28 frickin' years!

Jimbo and an outdated offense? You serious?
Dalvin Cook has 1467 yds and their QB Francois has almost 3000. Outdated my arse

They were 26-1 with Winston as a starter. Emanuel was the starter for the first ACC championship.

I guess so
it's a shame they don't realize that Jimbo is in this tier with them.
If he comes to LSU and wins a title, we can add him to the very short list of coaches who won a title at 2 schools. The odds of that happening are great. He's only 51.

If we're taking out years because of a good QB, you have to do so with Les.
It's idiotic to only do it with one of them.

People think "pro style offense"= toss dive out of max protect I
Posted on 11/21/16 at 3:36 pm to Old Money
some of these guys think the only way to beat Bama is to run the spread.
I can hardly blame them. A Miles offense will do that to your mental state.
But it's not true. Just look at who has beaten them in recent years. Ole Miss doesn't run a spread offense. Ohio State doesn't run a spread offense.
They run a pro style offense with spread concepts added in. But so does FSU.

It's rather easy to make an argument that Jimbo is the 3rd best CFB coach today.

I guess if youre going to say that, what was Urban without Tebow? Whats any coach without great players?
Why is Fisher getting shite on for winning with a great player/team, but the big 3 coaches get all the credit?

so basically the only NC Les won, and 2 years of Mett
oh, by the way, Flynn and Mett put up similar numbers as Francois is this year. As a freshman.

of course they can't. they haven't watched him like we have and they do not understand football. caltiger53 linked us to some subjective blog that spun some numbers to try to make jimbo look bad. didn't look at passing efficiency or all his records at LSU. Only picked out some supposedly bad years in national offensive ranking along with good years which to me killed his argument. It was funny though. But yes, he has yet to lay out any argument like we have listing lots of metrics.
