s we should beat them to it just because? If you're convinced then I can understand it. I'm just not. I think our program would perform just as well if not better paying less for a Herman (not likely to happen I know), Fedora, Aranda (plus a good OC), Fleck, and several others. We're just throwing money at the problem because it worked out for Bama, Ohio State, and Michigan. The difference is those are better coaches than Jimbo.

You contradict yourself in the post. Herman is going to cost a lot of money. He wont be cheap, at all.

We would essentially be throwing the same amount of money at a less proven coach.

That resume yet he and Les have had about the same success as HC except Les was playing against Saban, Urban, Patrino, Richt, and on. Who has Jimbo gone up against? I don't think it's that far of a fetch to say they resemble one another. I know I'll get hammered for this and he may come in and do a great job but he hasn't done much over there and has had many failures with so called 5* QBs and loaded rosters and didn't have to face the likes of these coaches. Herman is still the better choice IMO. Hit me

You mean Les Miles? Yeah I know, that was one of the criticisms that got him fired.

Jimbo is head and shoulders better than everyone on this list except one. If you want him, you're paying him $6 mil a year, minimum. Tom Herman is making $2.8 mil at a G5 school. His next job is going to be around $6 mil a year as well.

Like I said, average coaches will be making that very soon. If you want to be cheap, go with Orgeron.

Hasnt done much? How are some of you even saying this?

I think Herman would be a great hire but some of the shite being talked about Fisher is ridiculous.

How can you sit there and discredit Fishers resume when Herman just lost to Navy and got blown out by SMU?

I'm starting to warm with Jimbo, maybe it would be a better fit, the RBs, and D he has already here should be exciting for him. We need him to bring in a GREAT OL coach and OC though. Keep Aranda here and I would even try to keep Ed O at his previous position. Texas is right there full of QBs, Aranda will have this D right soon so he would just have to manage the offense develop our QBs and keep up the recruiting we got going. Get that big DLman out of Houston, come on back Jimbo and let's win some hardware!

and a much easier road to get there

this just isn't true anymore. outside of Bama, the SEC has been down.

Second, jimbo was at fsu for a few years before becoming head coach as the coach in waiting, so by the time he took over, it should have been loaded and ready to go.

which it was, and he did well in year 1. But do't discount the fact that FSU allowing Bowden to ride things out didn't hurt them.

quote:

But why is he having to rely on a true freshman?

I misspoke in the OP. Francois is a redshirt freshman.

quote:

Where are the other guys who've been with the program who should be heisman contenders because jimbo has been coaching them?

They're on the team. No offense, but it sounds like you should watch Francois. He is very gifted and FSU fans will even tell you they see improvements in him from game-to-game. It's obvious at this point that barring injury, he will end up being a star for them.

quote:

Much of that is said with tongue in cheek, but it does have some merit. What concerns me was the thing random posted last week that jimbo wanted to fight for "his guys" with regard to having to keep Aranda. Despite having an abysmal defense this year, and aranda making LSU defense great again, he was still wanting to fight for his defensive staff. Kinda brings back shades of les with the offense....stubborn and unwilling to accept that others may know more about that than he does.

Random and others have also reported that Jimbo would keep Aranda. Let's be clear: Kelly isn't Jimbo's first choice. He never wanted to replace Pruitt.

Idk what to tell you if you actually believe we should hire Fedora, Aranda or Fleck as HC over Jimbo. It's just a silly argument.

I didn't even mention in the OP that Jimbo has ties to LA high schools, which he does. But it wouldn't have made much sense to add that, as this thread was meant to disprove those who believe he is Les 2.0.

One is Houston the other is FS, one has been there for years the other has been there a couple seasons. I'm not saying anything about his resume what I'm saying is he should be winning at a higher clip in the ACC that's all. This could be for reasons idk but you can't tell me his teams are always focused and prepared like they should be. They lose to teams that make you scratch your head. His teams are up and down is what I'm trying to say. Hopefully he could change that here but not sure?

The things you mentioned about Jimbo are true for the most part

I quite literally posted facts. Not opinions. Facts.

quote:

he has coached in a fairly weak conference

this is a myth. This isn't 2006-2012 anymore where multiple SEC teams could win a NC. In the last 4 years, the ACC has gotten significantly better.

quote:

Do you think Jimbo would win SEC titles?

yes, within 2-3 seasons assuming LSU can hang on to Aranda. QUARTERBACK PLAY. Think about it.

quote:

I'd almost rather bring in a coach with a different style of offense like Herman to see what happens

Look, I'd love Herman at LSU too. But as of today, if these sauces on CC are indeed correct, that's not happening.

he has won the ACC 3 of the last 4 years, won a NC, and made a CFP.

Do you think he should be 4 for 4 in the ACC and NCs or something? News flash: Clemson, VT, Louisville and now Miami are all good damn programs with good damn coaches.

Hell, throw UNC in. They're better than most of the SEC west in reality.

damn, I did forget that.

I should start a poll.

Upvote if you think Les Miles could have stolen a 5 star QB out of Alabama. Downvote if you think he could not have.

I think we still have a shot and will probably end up with one or the other. Depends on whether Alleva can convince Herman that LSU is a better fit and Herman also sees the samething, I think it's a perfect fit but who knows. I think both would fit in well with what LSU wants and needs but it could really take off if Aranda would stick around for 3 to 4 years which I could see happening. He seems very calculated and would probably want to win something significant at LSU first before moving on. Hope I'm right

I don't see why people can't just say this without shitting on one or the other.
