then why were LSU fans so happy when Jimbo left LSU?
Aside from him being an a-hole?

Keep in mind that in 05-06 he was coaching under Miles, and it is confirmed that Miles was meddling. Especially in that Auburn game in 06.
jimbo and miles argued all the time.

is he paid to be nice or coach?

but the fact that there's so much debate about who the next coach should be shows he may not be the slam dunk many of you think he is.
I dont consider that to be anywhere close to being correct.
There has been so much debate because Miles got fired after the 4th game. We are going on 2 months of nonstop conversation because we were the only job open and one of the best coaching jobs in the country.
People like you arent helping considering the craptastic response you jumped in this thread with.

I still would prefer Herman first and Fisher second.
So Herman, whose resume isnt anything on the level of Fisher's, is the only slam dunk hire?

Someone else posted attrition as an excuse for the post Winston record. I was simply making a blanket statement about how great coaches plan for these circumstances. I don't need Google to tell your reading comprehension skills are lacking.
I'm sorry, but it's hard to take you seriously when you started with this:

Well, I mean....1 national title in 7 years with similar talent, and a much easier road to get there. Les was playing for his 2nd title in 7 years. Yeah, yeah. I know. Saban left us stacked. First, that's not altogether true. Second, jimbo was at fsu for a few years before becoming head coach as the coach in waiting, so by the time he took over, it should have been loaded and ready to go.
No doubt he is a great QB coach. But why is he having to rely on a true freshman? Where are the other guys who've been with the program who should be heisman contenders because jimbo has been coaching them?
Much of that is said with tongue in cheek, but it does have some merit. What concerns me was the thing random posted last week that jimbo wanted to fight for "his guys" with regard to having to keep Aranda. Despite having an abysmal defense this year, and aranda making LSU defense great again, he was still wanting to fight for his defensive staff. Kinda brings back shades of les with the offense....stubborn and unwilling to accept that others may know more about that than he does.

We didn't know yet that it was Les interfering. Remember, he left after the 2006 season. We only had two seasons under Miles at that point. Word on the street is that it was because of Les interfering that Jimbo put his feelers out for a job elsewhere, in the first place.
Posted on 11/21/16 at 2:19 pm to cas4t
They are fricking morons clinging to bubble screens and the fact jimbo runs a "pro style offense."
Posted on 11/21/16 at 2:22 pm to cas4t
Just watch his offense in 2006 against Auburn...

The subject line of your post is exactly what is wrong with this argument. You're right anyone who thinks Jimbo is Les Miles 2.0 is a moron. What people should be asking themselves is whether or not Jimbo is worth $6-$7MM a year on a long term commitment. The things you mentioned about Jimbo are true for the most part; however, he has coached in a fairly weak conference. To compare him to Miles is crazy as Miles was an idiot savant. He was lucky his first couple years and that's it. Yes Jimbo is far better than Miles but who wouldn't be? Do you think Jimbo would win SEC titles? I'm not convinced he would do any better than the 9-3 seasons we've been having. I'd almost rather bring in a coach with a different style of offense like Herman to see what happens. It's a tough decision no doubt so if we do give Jimbo the big bucks we're all in for whatever happens the next 7-10 years.

Convincing post. We need jimbo.

Anyone who asks this question isn't paying attention to what coaching salaries are these days. In 5 years average coaches across the major conferences will be making this much.
