The Bama/Dolphin situation was kinda of unique

With every denial it kind of gained steam in the national media. I think so many media members knew the truth they just wanted to force him to lie.

Saban talked to the reporters like they were dogs, even when there was plenty of smoke to justify their questions. Scoop, are you fishing for reaction on this one?

B/c his agent isn't telling things "off the record" to the media the way Jimmy Sexton did every year at MSU, LSU and Miami. It's how he keeps Saban and himself in the money.

The media is too stupid to make things up. It's usually fueled by something. And for Saban, it was Sexton.

And Bammers used to say it EVERY year as well when Saban was here.

Scoop, if Miles does leave for Michigan, expect the media to be at Bama asking Saban every day if he is going back to LSU.

i still dont understand why saban went to alabama. i never thought he'd do it. i always saw him as too proud of a guy to admit failure. i thought he would fight til the bitter end to stay in the NFL. seeing the dolphins this year, maybe saban wasnt that bad for them after all.

If UM doesn't hire someone before sunday I am sure after the SECCG The Questions will start to roll because the media won't have alot of stuff talk about untill the good bowl games start

All of the above are correct: Saban treated the media at large as being below him. On his first day on the job at Miami he locked the media room that was specially built to provide an easy working environment for the media. As he does, he then proclaimed that he was the only voice of the program. Plus, the media down there was primarily pro beat writers and they are known to have a different mentality than writers who cover college teams. You attack them, they attack back. That had nothing to do with Bama. It was all anti Saban, an evironment he creates wherever he goes.

BINGO. After this Saturday, there won't be any actual football to talk about for a few weeks. Coaching searches, "blow up the BCS," and the lack of minority coaches getting interviews will become the big news. You can bet Les will be hounded by the media pretty relentlessly as long as the UM job is open. Asking the media nicely isn't going to make them go away.

There's collusion going on between the search firm, Ferentz's people and Miles' people. Ferentz is to give the media a candidate to chew on, while he can show that other schools are interested in him. He's probably only going to leave Iowa for the NFL - heck he's already overpaid so I don't know if he's going for direct leverage, or just to solidify support among Iowa fans. Kelly is their backup in case Ferentz is outed as a false candidate, and they will interview Kelly if they have to.

Michigan is waiting for the SEC-CG, then they will ask for permission, offer the job (the terms have already been agreed upon in principle) and announce Les' hiring next week, probably Wednesday or Thursday. This time, I think our administration is ready and we will have a world class hire ready to announce within 3 or 4 days after losing Les. I don't know if the switch will happen pre-bowl or post-bowl.
