The media everywhere has to find something to write about in order to sell papers.
You're crazy if you think this is the media feeding this. It happened every year at Michigan State (they warned us), happened every year at LSU, happened each year at Miami and now it's happening at Bama.
Jimmy Sexton does it and obviously it doesn't bother Saban b/c Sexton keeps doing it. Year after year after year, raise after raise after raise.
Oh he'll lose a lot more.
But they leave b/c Saban pushes them out or they run from Saban.
But Saban doesn't publically fire coaches. They just find other opportunities.

We were 6-2 and 3 minutes away from beating the national champions...good luck by the way.
5 to 7 years away from contending? Yeah right, we were 3 minutes away.
You were 6-6 and 1 minute away from losing the Indy Bowl and going 6-7.
UNO's Joe Pasternack.
He's turned that team around in no time. We need a hungry young coach like him.

This is about the 10th thread I've seen with Gumps so happy that a governor says a coach isn't going. WTF does a governor have to do with it?

Saban will be at Alabama for a long time and everyone knows it. 3 years and we will be back atop the SEC.
Seriously Scoop, didn't the Gumps say the same thing about Dubose
and Price
and Franchione
and Shula
now Saban
all in the last 10 years.
Give it up. those days are over.
re: Herbstreit to officially apologise to LSU & BCS !!

Herbie wanted a scoop, just like CBS and Dan Rather wanted to scoop the Bush National Guard story. Both used sh*tty sources that got by their producers.
Difference is, CBS's story was correct but their sources were wrong. No one ever collected the $10k reward to prove Bush served at Bama. Nada.
With Herb OTOH, Miles is still here.
Danielson said for 3 straight weeks that RP was a transfer from Texas. And you think he's good?
Frankly I think he sides with LSU most of the time. Me not liking him has nothing to do with him kissing anyone's arse.
Dukke is about the most negative, uninformed poster on this board and that speaks volumes.

He has a 2.5 mil buyout. He's not going anywhere. Who would pay that for an assistant?

He was going by a source he felt confident in and just stated what he believed to be true!!!
His source was a prank phone call. He made no attempt to confirm the report. He went with it on national tv right before the championship game. That's gross negligence.
Only DC experience was at Western Ky. Comes from a coaching family. Dad was Indiana's coach and his brothers coach college as well.
Coaching Experience
1988 Indiana (graduate assistant)
1989 Army (offensive line)
1990-93 Western Kentucky (defensive coordinator, 1992-93; secondary, inside linebackers, special teams, 1990-91)
1994-96 Indiana (defensive backs, special teams)
1997-2000 Maryland (secondary)
2001-04 Oklahoma State (secondary)
2005- LSU (defensive backs)
And btw, he's from Ohio and he played for Michigan. He's Miles' kinda guy.

Rodriguez is considered a strong recruiter and has extended his base to parts of the Midwest. The nation's No. 1 prospect according to Rivals.com, quarterback Terrelle Pryor of Jeannette, Pa., has West Virginia as one of his finalists.

So there is bad blood between BAMA and Miami and has been for a long time.
re: Did we really pass on Petrino...
Posted by JVTiger on 12/12/07 at 11:39 pm to Stuttgart Tiger
As Jim Rome said today, Petrino stabbed Atl in the back, did the same thing to Louisville and he tried to stab Tubby in the back. It's only a matter of time before he does it to Ar-kansas.
He met with the Aubies, behind his former bosses' back, the man who gave him his chance and recommeded him for the UL job and did it without asking permission of UL.
Tubby will have the Ar-Kansas game circled.

In 2003, Franklin was chosen to lead the expansion franchise Lexington Horsemen football team in their inaugural season in the NIFL. The Horsemen exceeded expectations for an expansion franchise and earned a birth in the playoffs with a 9 5 record, while setting records for attendance and leading the Atlantic Division in scoring, at more than 50 points per game, and passing offense.
Very comparable to Spurrier and USC. Arkansas would never have gone to the SECCG those years had it not been for down years in the West. Had they had to fight it out with the Big 3 in the East, no way.
quote:
If Michigan would have been ready two weeks ago to offer Miles deal he'd already be the Coach. LSU forced him to sign the deal or he would be fired.
Think about this statement. Think hard (this might be difficult since you seem to be impotent).
If LSU really was going to fire Miles on the spot, LSU would have had to pay millions to Miles for breach of contract. And Les would then be free to go to Michigan and not have to pay his buyout clause of $1.25 million.
So it would have been to Les' advantage to get fired if he wanted to coach at Michigan. He would have had MILLIONS in his pocket with no obiligation to pay LSU $1.25 million.
And LSU would have to be IDIOTS to fire the guy and lose so much money. If they wait and not fire Miles, he has to pay LSU $1.25 million and LSU doesn't have to pay Miles squat.
Now does that seem plausible?
Saban wasn't touring a new development in B'ham this week. He was in BR. And the paper says the development passed the zoning commission. Now why would they be so interested in investing in BR?
Just askin...

trust me any alumi that is giving lots of money did not want him... have they changed their minds.... some have... but from what i am hearing from these ppl up here is still the same. They did not want him and still for the most part do not
But that's ok. We'll keep Miles, a 31-6 coach who has brought us to top 5 finishes in his three years here, to the SECCG 2 of 3 years and the BSCCG this year.
And you... well you can't even get the Rutgers coach.
