Now that is where you throw the bullshite flag.

Very plausible. Woodward don't like to get turned down, he's going after a sure thing. I imagine its already decided.

This place is full batshit insane.

As if Napier wouldn't punch his own mother in the face to get this job.

Aranda and Napier will easily take it if we get that far down the list.

Relax.

I will be very disappointed if it is Fisher.

Unless I missed some news item where he was ruled out, I think James Franklin is a very real possibility. People seem to dislike him as an option, but he has shown to be a very good program builder. He had VANDY of all teams maintaining a top 25 level of play, and has recruited very well at Penn State. He's not as sexy a name as Riley, but I actually think he'd be an excellent fit in Baton Rouge. He'd have the machinery humming in no time and, at the very worst, you'd be able to count on the fact that we'd be making the most of our considerable structural advantages.

ETA: I think I'd rather have franklin than jimbo

I won’t melt, but I’ll be underwhelmed. Just would think we’re overpaying for him. But, maybe I’d be pleasantly surprised.

Given the AD has hit home runs with WBB and baseball hires, I’ll trust him to make a great pick for FB

This is quite literally the exact fricking opposite of Woodward's entire philosophy. He has stated, explicitly, on any number of occasions, that he is *NOT* afraid to be turned down. His entire strategy is to swing for the fences--no matter how unrealistic a target may seem--and force them to tell him no before he moves on. He will go after his number one target regardless of whether he thinks he has a good chance to get the guy. Once the number one target is no longer a possibility, he will move to his number two target. "Likelihood of agreement" is literally not a criterion on Woodward's list of criteria. There is exactly one (1) coach in all of college football that he wouldn't bother asking if that's who he wanted to hire.

I sincerely doubt he didn't at least inquire about him as well.

Maybe cause he handled things the right way and got passed over. Now he has started something at a new place.

Kinda like a person staying with current gf/bf when the ex wants them back. the ex may be better looking, but the current one treats them way better.

Are we all still pretending he got “passed over” in 2016? He was 4 games into his LSU career

And clearly he was sooooo bitter about that he immediately continued to coach at LSU for another 3 years despite other offers.

I prefer to believe, until proven wrong, that woody is much more competent than Joe.

Having said that, do we really know who is on Woody’s list?

Nothing that happens at LSU surprises me, therefore I will not be disappointed...but it will be entertaining. I have seen 4 NCs in my time, living long enough maybe another.

Ed Orgeron got the spot. Any coach that wasn't a head at the time got passed over, even the volunteer volleyball coach at Podunk High.

Hell, Saban isn't even perfect anymore. He's 70 and showing signs of slowing down.

If it's none of these, then Woodward has fooled everyone and gone after someone that was not on the radar screen (ala Auburn in hiring Harsin, someone nobody was talking about).

There is no way Aranda or Napier turn down the job.

GEAUX TIGERS!

I'd say that none of those guys would get a > 60% approval rating. I'm serious.

The LSU fan base is dumb.

Tucker, Aranda and Napier would take the job. The only reason it wouldn't be those guys is if they weren't offered.

What if Aranda does not want to be lured? What if he really likes it at Baylor for a whole bunch of reasons? What if he wants the LSU job but doesn't want to walk away from Baylor after only two seasons. And what if it is not about money for him? If he does not feel like he will be in a conference that will get the respect to be in the CFP no matter what then maybe. But then most think the playoff is going to be expanded to 8 teams at least anyway so maybe that goes away.
