How in the heck do y'all know that? You just assume. That's all it is; an assumption.

That's all I can ask for.

Take the job, Jimbo. Great things are ahead.

Absolutely not. This is a unique situation. LSU is a program that's simply trying to get over the hump. Most programs looking for a new head coach suck. They don't have a staff already loaded on the defensive side of the football, a top three defense in the country, and nationally renowned recruiters where ever you look. Would they have to interview for their own jobs? Probably. But I'd bet good money that most of the defensive staff would be retained.

Not with Aranda performing the way he is. If Aranda is willing to stay then whoever we offer is offered the understanding that Aranda is their DC

Exactly. If you are a HC taking this job you have to be super happy with the folks already on staff. Austin Thomas, Craig, Raymond, and Aranda are coups for Jimbo

I made my post with the assumption that Aranda would stay on.

But when a new coach comes in to a new job, isnt it a safe assumption that he will clean house with the coaches that are there

ETA: The only way Fleck gets an interview is if Jimbo declines. Powers that be don't think he has near enough skins on the wall.

Tom Herman still in the mix?

*ETA - Saw this was asked towards the bottom of page one.

Yep! And O if he's not too butt hurt. I feel like the chance of O staying would be higher if a proven and seasoned coach was hired like Jimbo. Hiring a young, unproven coach like Herman could quite possibly drive some of this staff away. O doesn't strike me as a guy that wants to work for a guy 15 years younger than he is.

There are two things that I see in Jimbo camp that make him to accept or decline the LSU job:

1)
quote:

the job is his if he wants it and the powers that be want Aranda retained (major caveat).

Condition: Aranda has to be retained.

2) Family situation of his child with a rare illness. His child travels to MN for treatments with a specialist.

Item 1, retaining Aranda could be alright for him if he has no commitment to keep his current FSU defensive staff.

Item 2, family situation with a sick child, could be a major stumbling block in his decision not to accept the job in order to stay in the Tallahassee area to be close to his child.

We should know something by the end of this month after FSU's last regular season game with the Gators.

So there are 3 names on the list for the LSU job that I see in the order:

1) Fisher
2) Herman
3) Fleck

Stay tuned.

It depends on O's options as HC elsewhere

Charles Kelly (FSUs DC) is taking a lot of heat this season for the defensive performance after signing a fat extension in the offseason and he's only been with Jimbo since 2013 and a DC since 2014

Doesn't sound like a guy Jimbo would pound the table for

Yeah, but that goes without saying. Then again, this is tRant. Perhaps the obvious should be stated.

I just am cautious of people getting excited when we run all over teams we should and win games we should win abd people are just content hiring O.

We should beat UF at home and we should run wild on ATM

Regardless of HC
