Only way Ed O stays is if there's a contract in place for every other coordinator or assistant outside of a couple. This is one of the best staffs in the country. I have faith in O, but this staff is a huge reason for the success right now. I think O can do it personally, but it's a matter of having the right people around him.

He is, and apparently O will fire or lose all of the recruiters LSU has at its disposal.

If you don't want O because you want a homerun hire like Fisher or Herman, then that's fine and I back the decision, but it's so dishonest to think O would be a program killer.

Why even bother to post stuff like this any more? The pro-Os already agree with you, the antis hate him, and neither side is willing to listen to the other. All you're asking to do is stir up more ****.

All this arguing about who the new coach should be is just stupid and divisive. It's Alleva's decision - unless the big money behind the scenes controls him - and he and/or the boosters won't care what anybody on this board thinks.

This goes for any coach in any sport.

No you haven't. There are idiots on both sides of the Miles debate that seem to be siding with hiring Orgeron.

I supported Miles up until Wisconsin and would do it again, because most LSU fans were fricking insane with berating the guy from day one...but in no way would I be in favor of hiring Orgeron as full time head coach. I've been pretty vocal about both positions.

If LSU goes that route, I'll stand by them but I'll have been on record as having thought it was a bad call, especially if the goal was to replace Miles with an anti-Miles...and I don't just mean a coach who is essentially looking at what Miles did and playing opposite day to appease fans and the administration either. I mean a young, intellectual, well spoken football savant that has an expertise primarily on the offensive side of the ball. Orgeron is literally none of those things.

Idk why people have this hate for Coach O all of a sudden. The only real logical guy for this job is Jimbo and I just dont feel like the deal will get done.

As far as Herman...watch the narrative change in here once Lamar Jackson light Houston's arse up this Thursday night on national TV.

Because no one does?

There's a difference in hating the guy and simply thinking he's not the right guy for what amounts to a Top 5 type job in his industry. Why does thinking he's not the right guy have to mean people are hating on him?

No way man. He loves LSU, and he's a Cajun.

It doesn't matter that his record as a HC should disqualify him from any top-5 HC job. If you don't want him, it's pure hate.

i mean, he also lit up the only real logical guy for this job, so i guess we're looking for a guy that won't get lit up by Lamar Jackson, who LSU likely won't ever play against

Thanks for the feedback, guys.

Here's something else I believe: No matter who is eventually named LSU's new HC, at least half the fan base won't be happy. This has nothing to do with his success or failure- and that can't be helped.

But as always,

Keeping O is a uniquely awful idea that goes well beyond usual LSU fan division

I think O would do a great job, but I think no way Alleva takes that chance.

I'm not an Orgeron cheerleader, but why wouldn't Aranda be retained by O? He is under contract. The only way he doesn't have a buyout is if he takes a head coaching job and LSU is ready and willing to give him a big pay raise. Where are you "Aranda is leaving" people get this idea from?
theyre just making it up because they know everyone loves aranda and they want people to think he hates orgeron as much as they do. the reality is just the opposite but that doesnt help their scare tactic.

I doubt anyone is actually anti-O. Rather they are just pro-going after the best available candidates before giving him the keys.

I agree, so if he can keep them, I say give it a shot at this rate. We are playing damn good ball under O. If we win out, I say just pay Aranda stupid DC money, give Raymond a raise, and figure it out from there. The entire defensive staff needs to stay but I'm not sure what Pete Jenkins plans on doing after this year or what Ed O would plan to do from there.

why people have this hate for Coach O all of a sudden
1. They all thought he would shite the bed after Bama, and are scared to death he's about to be the HC.
2. They'd rather have someone who is leading his team down the polls (Fisher, Herman) instead of a coach that brought his team from unranked to soon to be top 10 and in the Sugar Bowl.
3. He did it with Fred Flintstone's team.
4. His staff is making him look good.
The excuses go on and on.

See my sig for what the winningest coach in our history rode on. We no longer have that problem.

I'll support the Tigers no matter the coach, but to think that Coach O is not doing an excellent job is absurd.

LSU has either the most intelligent fans in the country, or the worst. I vote for the latter. They all know better, and are never satisfied.
