He won't. Even if O wanted to keep him, doing so would destroy any small bit of momentum gained in the last few weeks. Players on that side of the ball would bail completely as they don't want to be a part of that defense again (they clearly never bought into Pelini this season). And if the defense looked like it would be awful again, you'd start to see offensive guys consider leaving.
The only thing O can sell to his team right now is changes will be made to make sure a repeat of this season doesn't occur. That sell can't be made if you keep the same staff in place.

Unfortunately, I think you're right.
The only indication that he's gone is coming from the same people who said Tom Herman or Jimbo Fisher was going to be our next HC.
I haven't seen anything that leads me to believe he's gone except a bunch of sky screamers on here calling for his head.
Wish it wasn't so...
