First of all, let me say that coming back to the coaching changes board I feel like Bill Buckner walking back into Shea Stadium.

Just wanted to see how you would feel about this move. Bret gets fired at Arkansas and comes to LSU until an ideal HC position opens up.

I don't see Bielema as the 'loyal lieutenant' type.

Someone mentioned Karl Dunbar? I'd prefer Karl Dunbar.

Yeah he has too big of a personality to sit back and take orders from another coach.

I think he's a good coach and will get another head coaching job pretty easy. He doesn't have the recruiting chops to hang in the SEC. He'd do well at Nebraska

As entertaining as it is to make fun of him, if he does get fired, he won't be out of a HC job for long. He won the Big Ten three years in a row before he went to Arkansas. It was never a good fit there.

I would much rather a proven guy or young up and comer. Bielema doesn't even take himself seriously with his current weight, and does he even have some glowing history of being a good line coach?

Yes, and he did a damned good job of it as HC at Wisconsin for a number of years.

actually Bret and Arkansas have recruited Louisiana and Texas really hard for obvious reasons. It would be interesting if Bret brought some contacts to the table.

I would love to bring Michael Smith to LSU. Seems like a no brainer with his LA connections

I agree, but he does have a history of hiring ex HCs for his own staff. Maybe he would be better at knowing his role on a staff than we think.

Actually, he has been maligned for not having a coach on his staff that really knows TX. They only have 3 TX bred players on the 2 deep I think. LA is a different story. Michael Smith does work.

As far as Bret at Wiscy, remember, the Big10 was really down during his years there. Michigan and Penn State were VERY underwhelming for the most part. Ohio State had a losing record his last year at Wiscy in which they went to the Rose Bowl and lost to Oregon. Also, there is a strong consensus that Alvarez was/is VERY hands on the football program even giving "advice" on recruiting and practices.

Our dline play immediately started improving when Pete started coaching those kids up. We do need a younger dline Coach who can recruit but Pete Jenkins brought value. This wasn’t a donation to the Jenkins fund. Dude can teach

One of the few I'll miss from Bielema's staff.

Looks like it. You're right, most of our 2 deep is from Louisiana. Thought we'd have more from Texas honestly since half of our students now are from there. May be the fewest we've ever had.

Zach Rogers (Center)
Devwah Whaley (RB)
Connor Limpert (Kicker)
