How much of an issue is Brady’s lack of experience and will to recruit?

CBK from everything we hear isn’t a big recruiter, that would leave you to believe you need coordinators who can recruit. Having an OC and HC who aren’t great recruiters starts to become an issue.

This is my 2nd major issue with the Brady hype train (behind actual coaching experience/talent). We would be at a SEVERE recruiting deficiency. Basically Brady would have to be OC and WRs/RBs coach and our WRs/RB coaches would do almost no coaching and only recruit. We would have to retain Brad Davis as well.

The recruiting is a damn rumor from the rant. As we have seen there are no real insiders on here. So we don’t know if that’s even remotely true. Brady’s personality makes me feel like he would be an excellent recruiter.

By all accounts he was a pretty good recruiter. LSU probably lands Caleb Williams if he stays. I don’t think he lacks the ability to recruit, he would just prefer to be in the NFL and not have to if given the option.

As recruiting is your lifeblood in college football, I would say that not having "will" to recruit is rather a f'n problem, even in this new world of transfer portal "free agency".

Basically exactly what MIckey Joseph said in an interview last night. Said Brady doesn’t even realize how good of a recruiter he actually is, he just prefers not to have to do it because it takes time out of scheming and coaching.

I missed the memo where Joe Brady said he was going back to coach college ball?

Is he that hot of a name after being fired/ let go?

If JB refuses to recruit, then he's a hard pass. If he's willing to work his butt off to bring top talent after getting hosed at Carolina d/t shitty talent, even if he doesn't have the greatest personality for it, he'd be great. E.g., Chavis wasn't a great recruiter. His 2011 defense was one of the most talented in CFB history.

Try again

quote:

The realities of recruiting hit Brady hard not long after he joined Coach O’s staff. He told The Athletic last year “I’m learning it (recruiting) never stops….I’m just looking forward to having a few days in a row in the same place”.

On Tuesday, The Athletic quoted a LSU staffer as saying that Brady “just didn’t enjoy the communication aspect and all the teenager shenanigans”. They also noted, however, that he didn’t slack on the recruiting aspect of the job. He did it, even though it wasn’t his favorite thing in the world.

He was only at LSU for the 2019 season. When the hell was he supposed to be recruiting?

In the same Micky Joseph interview you were fanboying. Micky said that even though Brady doesn't like it he's actually pretty good at it and wasn't a slacker on the trail.

People can be very good at part of their job, that they dont particularly like, but they still put in the work because they are a professional.

and I think this could be the key. I don't know if he has a better comparison after two years in the NFL, but we all do shite we don't want as part of our job. And after being shite canned, its not like he's in the same position as before. We'll see, I'm not salivating over Joe or disappointed if we were to hire him.

Lol for real. People are talking like he has this track record of not being a great recruiter. Dude was in college football for a cup of coffee and back to the NFL.

sure but we aren't talking about filling out an expense report or going to pointless meetings, recruiting is a huge part of that position

Everyone who piled on Aranda for not being a good recruiter are now all riding Brady’s and Kelly’s nuts even though they have the same knocks on them.
Hypocrites!
And I wanted Aranda and thought Kelly was a good hire.

where in the world did he doesn’t like to recruit or he’s not a good recruiter come from X? I watched a clip 15 minutes long were Mickey Joseph told Joe Brady he’s a better recruiter than he thinks. Mickey said to him you are a good recruiter. So what the hell with all this can’t recruit crap come from ? pitiful !

Doesn't like it, not that he wasn't good at it.
