What do you think Riley would have over Napier and vice versa. How many games do you think they would win respectively seasonally? Riley has the big college experience, Napier worked under Lord God Saban and tries to emulate what he does. Napier would probably come for half what it would take to get Riley here. IMO the results would be similar but Napier would be more hungry to prove himself, Riley would have a huge contract to live up to so could he handle it. Thoughts

Put it this way:

Over 10 years, I'd put the O/U on Riley championships while at LSU at 2.5

I'd put Napier's at 0.5

And for the last time, why the frick do we care what it would cost to get a coach here, as long as we can afford it?

Are you paying?

Start with Power 5 coaching experience and go from there.

So how many wins a year would you expect from Riley?

It matters because if you keep making mistake after mistake then eventually you won't be able to afford jack shite.

maybe the brightest offensive mind of the last 25 years, or a recruiter/program builder who coached under Nick Saban. gee I wonder who would do better at lsu.

Riley is what everyone thought Joe Brady was.

Riley's offense is stunning, nice run of 12-2 seasons.

Yet, the man can't win a damn playoff game. I'm just not sold. He's 1-4 post season. In the three losses, his teams gave up over 170 points.

Hes my first choice, but still a little wary.

Hmmmmmm

Comparing a guy that keeps winning the Big 12, in order to even get to the playoffs vs. a guy that has never outright won the Sun Belt

He can't get defensive recruits. I think their entire roster has one five star defensive player, and he's been hurt most of his career. The rest is split between 3 and 4 stars.

I think this is in large part because Oklahoma is a team not known for defense in a conference not known for defense (either week to week or in sending prominent defensive players to the NFL), yet it has to recruit in states that have SEC teams because Oklahoma has no talent in state.

An elite defensive player in Texas isn't going to go to Oklahoma over A&M, LSU, Georgia, or Alabama.

Their best bet to pull defense is California, but now you have Oregon to compete with and some prominent defenders up there.

All of those problems are fixed at LSU.

Maybe they'll also be fixed when Oklahoma joins the SEC, but I think it's more likely that the in-state schools in their target markets will far out recruit them on that front. With two Texas schools in the SEC, how are they going to pull any defensive player from Texas?

Riley contends immediately. Napier would likely take 3 years or so to get his feet under him.

Everyone keeps saying this, but OU isn't at a recruiting disadvantage.

Its his roster construction, that just doesn't fix overnight.

That’s just wrong.

You are always at a recruiting disadvantage having to rely entirely on states with other prominent p5 schools for recruits without having any in state recruits worth a damb. And that is all Oklahoma has.

LSU can win a title exclusively on Louisiana players.

Oklahoma would be a 2 win team exclusively with Oklahoma players.

he's a better offensive mind with 5 years of experience running an elite program and recruiting at an elite level. there is no other candidate like him on the board. anyone with a brain sees that you get turned down from him before moving elsewhere.
