According to recent history, 9 wins will get him a 70% pay increase.

This wasn't a rebuild, remember? And I'm beyond tired of excused every year. If we're not competing for the SEC next year, the house should be swept clean with the broom of reform.

Then consider his seat hot. You know damn well there is no way they win 10 games next year. Miami, Bama, Georgia, and Fla are all losses next year. Miss st, a&m, and Aub are all distinct possibilities. 6 losses is a probability.

No offense, but who is going to fire him? The AD who triumphantly rushed to the podium to hire him only (then) two years before? The BOS who approved the hire? The President of the university whose apparent only mission in life is to bemoan how broke LSU is...despite the fact the Athletic Dept. is a fully funded wing of the university which takes no money from the academic side?

It would take a monumental collapse for O to be fired after next season because that would mean the same bozos who are responsible for hiring him would have to admit that EVERYONE ELSE was right and they were wrong in their personnel decisions. Do you think that is going to happen?

Hell, Johnny Jones fell flat on his face with a loaded basketball team. He couldn't even reach the 68 team NCAAT. Yet, he got another year to fully tank the program before Alleva had no choice but to make a change.

He needs, in my opinion, 9 wins. Regressing should not be tolerated.

I'd also like to note that with the cupcake schedule we played this season, and only managing 9 wins, it is extremely unlikely that O hits 9 wins next season. The schedule is too brutal.

Orgeron's buyout drops every subsequent year of the contract. It slips to $8.5 million in 2018, $6 million in 2019, $4.5 million in 2020 and just $1 million for the final year.

I'd say he have to win 4 games in 2018 to be fired.

9 regular season wins and look damn good in the 3 losses. Alleva gets canned before end on this summer so the next AD can get a binder full of coaches ready to interview.

PS
If Miles gets out of our Check book It could be mid season for O.

It will have more to do with the blowback that Alleva receives and how that plays out, than straight W/L.

I think as long as it's 50% or slightly above, O will be back...

So 6-7 wins, he's back in 2019. The reason I was always loud about O, and still am, is because I view him as a very "durable" coach. He's a salesman, first and foremost, he's a good ole boy, and he seems to know how to get by on the success of others. He's put himself in a position to play the blame game, shifting it with the wind as needed, says all the "right things," responds to fan concerns for show, etc.

His cult of personality, whether or not its logical, is going to be a significant cushion for losses, pair that with everything else and it will be tough to get rid of O. I think we'd re-up O if he consistently wins 8-9 games, and that's terrifying.

Based on how the BOSs are conducting themselves, there are no requirements on O for next season. None.

They’re not firing him for any kind of winning record regardless of how badly we want them to.

This seems to be the case. Alleva has been good at squeezing money out of fans.
