Yeah, but usually NFL guys that get fired take another job in the NFL. The NFL actualy has *somewhat* of an offseason compared to the college guys. I think guys (as in head coaches) are either college guys or NFL guys. Gruden is an NFL guy.

It seems like the Glazers got tired of watching Dungy come up short and just wanted to bring in someone to win right away before the team got too old.

I think he would make a good college coach with his personality. If I was him, I would stick with espn for awhile though. He looks like he is having much more fun there than when he was on the sidelines

he's a world class a-hole as a coach. i think word would get out on the recruiting trail
and if gruden had problems finding NFL QBs to run his offense, i have no idea how he'll find them in college
i understand why people think he'd be awesome in college, but i think he'd flame out

They won the freaking Super Bowl
They were underachieving greatly with Dungy so bringing in Gruden helped them get over the hump. Gruden's problem at Tampa is he had too much power. He's better off when he's just the head coach and he's not trying to be the GM as well.

It's simply harder to win in the NFL. There are differences, but I think the vast majority of guys who can win in the pros can win in college.

His 95-81 coaching record means he's a little better than average. He does have a Super Bowl win, but so does Brian Billick who has a similar overall win-loss record as Gruden, and you don't hear many people saying how awesome it would be to have Billick as their coach.

His tenure with the Raiders indicates he's well above average as a coach. I don't think he just started sucking as a coach when he went to Tampa Bay.
It's not like the roster was as good his entire tenure at Tampa as it was when he started.
IIRC, that team was getting old when he got there. He had to win quickly.
