If we're looking to the future UF and A&M would be 1 and 2 simply because of their states.

It's hard to separate Auburn from Bama and UGA in any significant way. All similar recruiting footprints.

The last three coaches at LSU, including 2 certified idiots, have won national titles at LSU. I’d say LSU is right behind Bama as the premier coaching destination.

Three of the last 4 Auburn coaches went undefeated. The other played for a NC. They were all mediocre HCs. I’d say Auburn is top 3 in the SEC.

Another consideration now that makes the job unappealing is they will eat any amount of buyout required to fire coaches. So your contract is meaningless and the coach is never on solid ground. And you have to suck up to the Pat Dye crowd. The only amount of sustained success a coach achieved was when Bama was on probation or hiring dudes named Mike. In my opinion, those factors put it below Bama, LSU, Georgia, Florida, and pretty even with A&M. Second banana in their state and fighting an uphill battle. A community of people pretending to be alphas.

You think that is unappealing for a coach? I guarantee Malzahn isn't too bothered by getting shite canned and has 10+ million dollars getting deposited into is bank account in the next month.

All contracts are meaningless, IF you underperform.

Make top 5 money, and get top 30 results.
You will be on fire soon.

Every coach knows this.

Not even questionable is a bit ridiculous. Why would UF trade places? They've had great success the last 2 decades.

As someone may have already said:

It is the best job available in the country right now.

Head coaches have to “strike while the iron is hot”. How do you think Ed O would fare in a contract negotiation right now?

Remember how “hot” Dennis Franchionne was?

Things can change in a year.

The best you can ask for is to be the best job open at the right time.

But it’s a small state and a relatively low profile school that isn’t a blue blood and isn’t flush with cash.

LSU Facts

12th all-time Wins 816
4 NC
12 SEC Titles (UGA & Tenn have 1 more 13ea)
52 Bowl Games - 8th all-time
639 Weeks in the Poll - 10th all-time

Don't give me this (Not a Blue Blood) crap !!

Serious question. Is it even in the top 5 in the SEC?

Probably not but I bet it’s close to top ten in the country

I love Auburn as much as anyone - but this isn't true

AL, UGA, UF, LSU, (arguably A&M) all ahead of AU for various reasons

I would agree that those may be ahead of Auburn, but it's not much of a gap. Auburn is a really good job.

Agreed. Which is pretty impressive of Auburn, considering all the other schools mentioned are flagship universities.

Not debatable HG. UGA and UF are far bigger/better schools than LSU in almost every category.

Except football, and engineering, and vet school, and starting salaries. So I guess that leaves you with bigger, congrats on having more people.

One of these two schools fired their HC exactly 1 year, 10 months and 17 days after leading his team to the NC game. The other school waited 6 years, 11 months and 5 days after his team’s NC game appearance.

Gus never went 4-8 with recruiting in the shitter.

Not based on National championships. I’ll take on field results over media darlings any day.

I may be biased because I'm a big LSU fan, but having gone to Emory, I can confirm UGA is a cesspit academically.

Edit: ...and LOL at any claims of prestige. What are you smoking?
