That was just an alternative way for Gruden to tell them no. Smart guys are always looking for an angle. He didn't really want the job, so he made a ridiculously extravagant demand.

Only guy I want more then gruden is saban.I think both are pipe dreams! Realistically, patterson from tcu is the best realistic option!

that sounds a lot like a demand he'd make if he had no intention of taking the Miami job but wanted everyone to know he would take the right college job...
