Jesus, we have some clueless dumbasses on this site.

I will take my medicine and admit I’m apparently one of them. Now, can you tell me what ties they are referencing in regard to Kiffin?

Both worked for Kiffin

Yes, but IMO... those are serious ties.

Supposedly LSU is not serious with Kiffin to this point. This is coming from Florida and Ole Miss people.

I just have to wonder if we have our ducks in a row for this hire. It seems like everyone on the board has “their guy.” No leaks have happened to this point, but is that because we are not far along or is it lockdown?

Could mean a couple things:
1. Consider the source (ole Miss and Florida)
2. Someone wants them to think that
3. LSU is actually in pursuit of someone other than Kiffin higher on their wish list
4. LSU is a disorganized mess right now

I but I’ll be optimistic and hope #3

I have a feeling that LSU is going to make a hire that will surpass all.... in pure embarrassment.

No confidence in anyone running the university, new or old, and definitely no confidence in the new AD.

They'll hire a low level starter guy that's never coached an SEC program.

Not sure his agent isn't setting the market value for Lane at Ole Miss.

Good. Kiffin shouldve been hired in 2021. Unfortunately Scott was too proud.

We dont need to be giving out the 10 year $15 million contract that it would take to get Lane.

In 2021 we went after Lincoln Riley, Jimbo and Kelly.

Low level "starter guys" that were hired at various places in that same cycle-Dan Lanning, Marcus Freeman, Mike Elko.

I bet Oregon is real embarrassed to have had to hire a guy in his 30s who hadnt been past the coordinator stage

I don’t think LSU can officially interview until this business with Kelly is resolved. Once they settle, LSU can engage other coaches… until then it is most likely 3rd party contact.

I see nothing wrong with taking a flier on a Ryan Grubb or Glenn Schumann type. Or a G5 HC.

I think you take the swings at the splash hires. When you miss your swings, you go down the list. I keep saying Willie Fritz is an incredible program builder. Tulane and now UH. Give that guy a 4 year deal at a value. And in 4 years I bet your program is in a lot better shape. Then you can asses the coaching landscape.

Not the popular opinion of course. Probably a better plan though.

That’s not true at all, litigation can drag on for years.

Well he made one good hire and sorry, hiring a coordinator isn't the same as hiring a HC. However, just like EVERYONE ELSE around here... I've never hired a HC.

AND while as you said "I bet Oregon is real embarrassed to have had to hire a guy in his 30s who hadnt been past the coordinator stage"..... Ed should be embarrassed for hiring the Air Canada, retread Bo, etc.

Not sure if serious…..but I think you are

Oregon is the state and my reference was a reference to the university of Oregon hiring dan lanning a non “name head coach” in a year where Riley and Kelly were hired. Which you would have called a failure at the time.

Orgeron is Ed. Our former head coach and former (maybe current?) Hummer enthusiast
