Here's a question: What actually IS Coach E's offense?

Don't point to last year. He didn't install that. Teach it or create the playbook.

Some might say, "well, he was OC at AU for a year" to which I'm going to say this. He'd already been at AU for 2 years as a position coach. So. Did he just take over the existing offense and keep rolling with it or, did he install HIS offense?

Seriously. Do we have any fricking way of even knowing what a Coach E designed offense looks like?

He ran a pro style at Louisiana Tech, but that was a LONG time ago.

An oxymoron if I ever heard one.

When Steve as an OC he was one of the first to use the Spread Offense. People say he was running Cam's Offense in the Citrus Bowl I think that is BS because I counted like 10 Offensive Formations that he used. If you want to see his Offense re-watch the Citrus Bowl on YouTube against Louisville.

We as LSU fans are in no position to make fun of Louisiana Tech's offense. LOL I wish our passing game was half as innovative as their's has been the last decade.

Make fun of?

Tech is my alma mater, and I’m simply saying Tech is offensively everything LSU wants and needs. And they’ve been that way almost exclusively since the forward pass. It’s an envy, and a lack of defense and some bad luck is all that’s kept Tech out of that “next level.” That ‘12 season was magical until the end.

I don’t understand the downvotes. It’s a compliment lol

Also, not a walmart LSU fan. I’m an LSU grad as well.

Sorry, bro! I think we just misunderstood. Lol Tech has a hell of a program. I've enjoyed watching them over the years.

If they actually try to do this it will be a disaster. I don't expect Orgeron to understand how much practice it actually takes to run that offense effectively, because it's not like he understands anything else about offenses.

That's the thing. I'm sure he has a philosophy but how up-to-date could it be? And how could he possibly modernize it and be proficient enough in the new offense to teach it well to players?

I imagine we're going to be running something like "DA USC OFFENSE ATTACK" O wants so much.

I feel confident that Esminger will get the TEs more involved in the passing game in whatever offense he rolls with. That's something that I've been wanting for a long time.

Here's a few relevant examples...

This one was against a defense that finished the season ranked #78 in total defense and gave up an average of 26 points a game (and went 4-6 against the rest of their schedule):

Some of you may have witnessed this one in person:

LINK

Bear in mind, this offense had 7 future NFL starters, including three first rounders playing in the backfield.

More recently, against a team that ended up #72 in total defense and gave up 31.2 points per game (and went 4-7 against their other opponents):

LINK

But hey, his offenses were usually able to run it up against teams with significant talent deficiencies. I'm sure you have a lot of those on your 2018 schedule.

Hopefully, it will be one that utilizes both of our QB's and features a different passing attack than " just go deep, I'll throw it as far as I can", like we have seen the past 4 years.

I’ve never understood why we didn’t use TEs more often with all the inexperienced/shitty QBs we’ve trotted out over the years.
