do we have the QB's to run his offense?
Helfrich is one of the best qb coaches out there. He won national qb coach of the year twice in his career. If O will give him any talent at all Helfrich will build a qb. It's what he does.
Remember Oregon didn't run the blur under Helfrich like they did under Chip. They were much more balanced and "normal" for lack of a better word.

Why are the responses on this thread so positive that we can get either. If anything, the past month has shown that just because we are mighty LSU we can attract recruits and no/brainer HC hires.

Helfrich has never called plays. Before It was Chip, then it was Scott Frost, now it's the current OC. frick that shite. If he wants to be QB coach by all means come on down, but I don't want him as OC.

Lol LSU fans would prefer Helfrich over Canada.
So dumb, Canada in a landslide.

A) he has called plays at 3 different schools.
B) you want the guy who designed and implemented an offense that broke records at an offensive school like fricking Oregon? Or you want the guy who has had a single non-mediocre season?

Helfrich is the easy choice imo

I hear that Canada WANTS to be here more.
On the other hand I hear the Helfrich talks like us.
So at this point it's a crapshoot.

Team Canada here
I think his offense would translate better to the SEC. Still run heavy. Lots of formation wrinkles would keep defenses from stacking the box. LSU will always have great running backs. We need to play to our strengths

Either, slight advantage for Canada

Koetter called plays at ASU and Kelly/Frost did at Oregon

I would take a veer and shoot guy like Gilbert over either. The issue with Helfrich is that, while he may be a great coach, what does this transition look like? It will take him 2-3 years to turn the roster over to a true spread with smaller O Linemen. Unless he transitions to more of a power spread with a bigger line, we could be in for a bumpy couple of transition years. I don't think our fanbase understands how big of a transition it is to a true spread-option offense.
