Might just want to see what Texas is offering. What's the harm in listening to what other employers are willing to offer so he can find out what his services are worth?

In the event he wants to "hear Texas out" we can say frick it and offer BDP the job. He wants to be here.

He was recruiting for LSU yesterday and is expected to sign in the next couple days. Texas sites are saying they won't match LSU's number and Herman is waiting to see if Orlando will get the Houston job before moving on to other targets.

It's a 2 million dollar contract, it takes a little while for the lawyers to work through it. He's given every indication he plans on staying, and Texas mods spinning the story to "LSU is overpaying for him" is pretty telling.

Nothing wrong with it at all, but Joe Alleva has set the precedent that we now have to withdraw our offer, cry like a child, and settle for an inferior candidate that wants to be here before lunch time today.

Wild guess--if and when the contract is signed it will be divulged.

Not yet. Probably going to take texass a few days to get everything in place to make the offer. I expect it to be signed pretty soon though.

He's probably waiting to see what Texas offers. There's a decent chance that he leaves and will be the first domino to fall out of the binder. I hope he stays but don't believe this clusterfricks over yet. There is far too much dependence on elite coordinators. I support the Tigers and support canning Alleva just as much.

Regardless of if he actually wants to do, it's smart of him to at least hear out Herman.

The more I think about this, the more I side with Alleva. I was like "it's negotiating, Joe, get over yourself", but if it's true Herman's camp leaked the possible signing instead of just being up front with "we'd like to see what Texas would offer", that's some underhanded stuff that would probably piss me off as well.

If it's Fisher, a more established big school coach, you'd probably have to roll with it, but for someone yet to prove himself, you probably don't feel you should have to play that game.

I choose to be optimistic, so I'm sure a lot will disagree with me.

I think Joe read between the lines and realized all he was doing was being manipulated into making Herman more money. Herman to UT has been the worst kept secret in CFB. I understand the board's frustration that we seemingly didn't try, but I don't think there was any amount of money that would have gotten him here with the UT job open.

Exactly. Joe actually did the right thing with Herman, LSU was a bargaining chip for Herman to Texas. He never was coming here.

Now I think he should have at least entertained other coaches, that's where I believe he failed

That right there is why everyone is pissed off at Alleva.
